Pakistan announce 15-member squad for World Cup

Sohail khan is the most surprising entry.

Anwar ali was a much better choice
Sohail khan as Bowler is much better then Anwar Ali , more capable to slow down run rate , and effective in ending overs.

But anwar ali is a brilliant fielder and awesome batsmen aswell.

.
The weakest team to ever leave the shores of PK. Very little experience of australian conditions.
May be this is a surprise package that might lift the cup.

Some times the least experienced are the one that cause major upsets. Though it seems as the team would not be able to make the second round.

Lets be realistic here.

What the Fck is Wahab Riaz doing there...He has been the most under-performed player in the past couple of series's as well in the current Domestic pentangular series...Rest i guess the team is balanced..

effective fast bowler can produce more wickets in Australian condition, but don't expect anything from Pakistani Batsman. whether if we give chance to 11 batsman in single match then even still you cannot say that Pakistan would cross 250 runs mark. Bowlers may provide chance to give tough competition to other teams.

Seems like a balanced team. Interesting to see eight players from the last world cup. Let us see how the new and the old gel together and play their game. We wish the Pakistani team best of luck. Looking forward to some good cricket coming February and March. Cant wait!

Best of Luck!
Our Bowling side is weak, only Junaid Khan will be affective in Australian Pitches.
and Our Batting is very very weak! because only on Australian Tracks, we need batsmen with good technique, and we only have Ahmed shahzad with good technique with Younus Khan.

.
Ahmad shehzad - talented,arrogant,good fielder,impetuous
mohd hafeez - one dimensional now after being banned from bowling. Inconsistent batsman
ehsan adil - has not impressed with his bowling. Case of being selected because there is nobody else available
haris sohail - raw talent who impressed against the Kiwis recently. Can also bowl.
Mohd irfan - can be trump card on hard bouncy pitches down under. Injury prone.
Junaid khan - coming off injury. Talented and a hard worker. Good yorkers.
misbah ul haq - under-rated and under-fire from the fans and media alike. Nicknamed mr.tuk-tuk. Can be a devestating hitter if he wants to. 40+now.
Sarfaraz ahmad - late developer who has talent as a batsman but average gloveman. Considered the 'darling' of PK cricket. The jury is still out.
shahid afridi - 400 ODIs, avg:in the low 20s. Better known for his bowling now which may not get much help from the fast, bouncy australian tracks. Never fared much in 'Big-BashT20. Known as mr. Boom-boom.
shoaib maqsood - opener will be given a chance if hafeez fails. Has talent.
sohail khan - surprise selection on the back of a strong domestic season - 64w, avg:22. Right-arm fast bowler. Very little international exposure.
Umar akmal - probably the most talented batsman in the side. Huge underachiever. His last chance to perform on the world cup stage.
wahab riaz - the less said the better. Luckiest cricketer on the planet to be selected.
yasir shah - new raw find as leg-break/googly bowler. Could do well on bouncy tracks. Likes to attack the batsmen.
younis khan - great test match player but we are going to the one day world cup. Average strike rate.

Dawn.com survey: Fawad, Haris both make the cut in World Cup 15
Dawn.com
Fawad Alam and Haris Sohail both made the cut while the experienced fast bowler Umar Gul also got the nod in a Dawn.com readers' selected Pakistan squad for the upcoming World Cup.

In the Dawn.com survey, readers overwhelmingly backed Misbah-ul-Haq as the right choice to lead Pakistan at the big event which kicks off from February 14.

Analysis: The playing XI: Balance will be Pakistan's biggest concern

Mohammad Hafeez, who has been banned from bowling by the ICC for an illegal bowling action, did not find favour with the readers who rejected the Pakistan Cricket Board selectors' assessment of the 34-year-old player a 'specialist opener' in the World Cup squad of 15.

Interestingly, six players, Ahmed Shehzad, Misbah-ul Haq, Mohammad Irfan, Junaid Khan, Shahid Afridi, Sarfraz Ahmad, were the core players in the squad for all the 2867 respondents in the survey.

When the survey posed the question 'Is Haris Sohail a better option than Fawad Alam?' to the readers, responders appeared slightly uncertain. 41% of the readers voted for Haris edged, 31% for Fawad while 21% were 'not sure.'

The results backed the make up of the bowling attack which includes five fast bowlers, although the combination of fast men picked by the selectors could have been different, according to the readers.

The fast bowlers picked for the squad are Mohammad Irfan, Junaid Khan, Ehsan Adil, Sohail Khan, Wahab Riaz.

The surprise pick Sohail Khan was a hit with some on Dawn.com's interactive forums while many readers believed Umar Gul and Mohammad Talha should have been preferred over Sohail and Ehsan Adil.

Pakistan, placed in Group B, will open their campaign with a highly-charged clash against arch-rivals and defending champions India in Adelaide on February 15.

The top four teams from each of the two groups will qualify for the quarter-finals, leading up to the final in Melbourne on March 29.

I feel for Fawad Alam. However, with Waqar as coach, Pakistan does have a potent bowling attack for Aussie conditions. Lets see.

.
