Yes , this poem in syllabus too. But its wording are strong and it gives a insight of military tradition. This poem is loved by many military personal around the world. One of my Uncles , May Allah bless him with jannah and give his family Sabr, used to tell me stories about his time at the front line in Kashmir. He would be eyeball to eyeball with the Indian enemy a few yards apart. The Pakistani soldiers and Indian Soldiers would exchange food , play cards together , crack jokes etc but when the order came to fire, guns would be drawn and firing to kill started. One thing that I remember he complained of was the toughest survival training he was given. Dumped in the middle of nowhere with no food and water they had to survive for a week before a helicopter came and picked them up.
I was forced to learn this crap poem at school by my history teacher. If a single mistake , even a question mark comma or full stop then a detention was given and the written recital would have to be redone.
