Pakistan to reopen sealed Afghan border for 2 days

Authorities have decided to open Pak-Afghan border crossings for two days in order to facilitate nationals of both the countries.

“In order to provide an opportunity to those nationals of Afghanistan who had come to Pakistan on valid visas, and wish to return to their country, the Government of Pakistan has decided to open the border crossings at Torkham and Chaman on March 7 & 8,” the Foreign Office said in a statement on Monday.

The crossing points, the Foreign Office added, will also be opened for those Pakistani nationals who went to Afghanistan on valid visas and wish to return.

The announcement came following numerous requests by Afghan authorities to reopen the border, saying it was creating a humanitarian crisis.

The crossing points were sealed after a series of bomb blasts and suicide attacks rocked the country, killing over 100 people last month. Pakistan accused Afghanistan of harbouring the militants who carried out the attacks.

The decision was conveyed by Adviser to the PM on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz to the Afghan ambassador by telephone. “All concerned at the two crossing points have also been informed,” the communiqué added.

What is the guarantee that while we are allowing them to go back how many of them are terrorists or how many terrorists are hiding behind them waiting to cross over? To me it seems the threat of Afghan ambassador over social media worked. Our men lost their lives as a result of an attack happened from across the border and this is how we respond. I am at loss of words here.

That's what i was talking about for last 6 days. atleast open border for those who are currently stranded on the border. Thank God Sanity Prevailed.
I think they were going to give a break but they decided to do it after PSL.

.
Should have been open just for a day. Anyway, after this exchange of valid visa holders that is allegedly creating 'humanitarian' crisis according to some, including IK, the border should be sealed for a long time. No more excuses of 'humanitarian' crises.

what about we say "STFU" to IK and "KICK THEM OUT THIS TIME YOU AS***LE" to NS ?

BTW it take time for the border clearance of vehicles and Persons. 2 day's is a good call.

Just wait, it wont be long before suddenly more people become stranded and the ambassador goes back on Facebook to cry some more.

I agree wholeheartedly. I feel IK is a jerk and NS a wuss when dealing with national security matters.
