I think, media reports should not be give any credability. in this matter, the report of IMP, WORLBANK or UN should be considered source of credibility. US media, as per track record, one day we here a new in New York Times, Pakistan nukes are un-safe but next day we hear from David Patrous saying" pak nukes are safe"

.
Pakistan makes it to the top 10

That is bad.It says that the US aid is the only thing kind of keeping it intact...essh

If we consider the nuclear factor then Georgia and Somalia are not that bad.

North Korea... At least Kim Jong is in charge of the countries nuclear arsenal.

.
None of the references were correct per se, someone posted from Indian Newspapers, someone from Wikipedia. The report was published in Foreign Policy Magazine in July / August 2009 issue. It is always a good idea to give the actual reference rather than of the newspapers where you may have read about an episode.

The report can be found here http://www.foreignpolicy.com/articles/2009/06/22/the_2009_failed_states_index

.
There was also a report that said Pakistan will collapse in 6 months

They can say whatever they want, but if you look at the list then Pakistan doesn't belong with some of the other countries next to it on the list. I mean Pakistan is like next to Afghanistan on the list. Give me a break! I think the image of Pakistan is pretty bad right now but it will change after a year or so, when we have good news on the FATA war.

I agree....Pakistan definitely does not deserve to be in the same league as some of the countries on that list...

I dont think a failed state can have a rising economy, a decent military industrial complex, know how of nuclear technology...etc...
Pakistan is nowhere close to any of those countries....But I will say that the political situation is quite in the dumps....If things dont change soon enough....This could take a nasty downturn..A revolution is required....But not one that involves the Taliban!!

Im not sure if this is a US report, but maybe it is a ploy to garner more funds for aid from US congress by making the situation look graver than it might be....Thats how I would look at this.

If pak is in top ten failed state. Wat do u think whose responsible Zardari ? or Musharaf ? or any other formuer ruler. pls elaborate.......

.
Bro,

Some Indian members here are exciting to know failed states Pakistan. They keep saying pointing fingers on Zardari or our President (which is wasting our times). These members are no common sense and keep discriminating Pakistan's future. Absurd- Use your brain to open your eyes.

I repeat loud again here:

"Exactly. It is US' bullish wars. If there is no conspiracy theory on 9-11 today, Pakistan would be on list number 1 in a great places to visit !!!

This Washington Times article is twisted! "

. .
in the west media and study,China should collapse many times, why?
when Hongkong was back to China, they said Hongkong is dead.
and the west hot money attacked this city immediately, and we all know the 1997 Asia financial crisis.and the west told Thailand that they should not step in the financial market, and the goverment should stay away.and we all know what happened.
and i have faith on Pakistan, why ?i dont believe what they said
they tell you bad things, and you trust them, others trust them, and all guys make it come true together, and --------
who is happy?why?what they get?
before the US financial crisis they told us that our financial market had been in trouble and ordered China change------you can check news what their leaders said at that time.
how funny it is!
long live:pakistan::china:

India has largest number of domestic terror groups

MUMBAI: The CPI (Maoist) swells the list of indigenous terror groups operating on our soil to 27, making India home to the largest number of
domestic terrorist organisations in the world. On Monday, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) named the CPI (Maoist) as 34th terrorist organisation under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act; seven of these are transnational terror groups.

CPI (Maoist) joined ranks with Ulfa and SIMI and lesser known entities such as Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council of Meghalaya, Kanglei Yaol Kanba Lup of Manipur and Akhil Bharat Nepali Ekta Samaj, which though virtually unheard of are considered deadly enough by the government to be designated as terrorist organisations.

Of the seven transnational terror groups, only two —al-Qaida and LTTE — are truly global names. The other five are Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Harkatul Mujahideen, Al Badr, Jamat-ul-Mujahid and Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) which are all Pakistan based terror outfits fighting Indian security forces in Kashmir.

"I am not surprised that we have so many local terror groups," said Prakash Singh, former director-general of Border Security Force (BSF). "Since Independence we have seen the rise of a new terrorist movement in every decade, whether it be the Naxals, militants in Punjab, terrorists in the North East or in J&K. It is failure of governance that has led to this situation," Singh said.

Going by number of organisations that other countries currently designate as terrorist, they too feel threatened by a number of groups. But none of them have as many home grown extremist groups as India does. The list runs into more than 40 in both US and Canada but includes only international names such as Hezbollah, Hamas, FARC, Ejercito de Liberacion Nacional, Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) etc — none of which operate directly on their soil.

Amongst developed countries, only UK has a significant number of terror groups breeding close to home in form of nine Irish militias such as the Ulster Freedom Fighters and the Irish Republican Army.

"India is a large country with such great diversity and so many grievances. This complexity leads to growth of radicals who survive on extremist ideology and terror. Developed countries have not had to deal with problems like ours that breed extremism," said intelligence affairs expert B Raman.

India also has the largest number of pupulation(1/6 th humanity) living in a totally free world and have full freedom to express their views(unlike china). The question is how successfull those terror groups are???

10s of Millions in your nation are forced to clean toilets and dwell in gutters just becasue of their caste - how much freedom do they have?

And muslims are treated very badly in India. I have seen it with my own eyes - some Hindu students were beating two muslim students with sticks and rocks for several minutes, and dozens of police were just standing there doing nothing.
