Pakistan among countries participating in US Air Force Rodeo competition

Look at his insigna on the sleeve Chogy, a dagger with lightning bolts surrounding it, clerly stating that he is SSW.

Noted, thanks.

Guys, I'm not putting him down. Note I clearly state I support the right of military personal with deeply held religious convictions (if the beard is religious in this case, only he knows) to have their hair, beards, and symbols - so long as they do not interfere with the mission.

Rastafarians smoke weed as part of their religion. We can all agree that wouldn't work.

My only objection was the mask issue, and it is an important one. Guys that have to wear oxygen or chemical warfare masks need to show that the mask will seal 100% over their facial hair, if any. The tiniest leak of chemicals is instant death, and with oxygen, above about 34,000 feet, the mask kicks into a positive pressure mode, meaning the regulator forces compressed pure oxygen into the mask. Without a seal, it'll all trickle out, and the guy will pass out from hypoxia.

British Pilot Nigel Sharkey Ward during the Falklands Conflict

I wouldn't want to be Nigel Sharkey at 45,000 feet in an unpressurized cockpit.

Well he did the job for the Royal Navy....

He shot down a Pucara, a Skyhawk (or was it a Dagger ?) and a C-130
Sea Harriers were too scared to climb to 45,000 ft were they knew they were at a disadvantage to the Mirages

Totally understand your point of view - In fact many members have raised this issue and Air Force has strict restrictions for Fighter Pilot. For Security guys the rules are lenient.

Chogy is not against beard per say. That pilot has a very short beard compared to our SSW guy.

lol You sound funny MK , You are sounding like a 4 year kid man, i wonder you are the same man i know for 3 years on this forum. A person calling other kids is himself sounding like so
so this time round you don't find any logic to criticize MK so you came up with this stuff lol

No offense but seriously you have to review your statement . I know you will surely come up with counter statement to defend yourself coz i know you are not among the one being easily beaten in arguments , so m up for it

Mani,

Oh Jee------a 4 year old and a member here at defence dot pk----man----is that a record of some kind----. Would you please do some more research and see if there are other members here my age----so that I can hang around with them.

One of the job requirements of a soldier is to stay low / act ordinary---stay under the radar---don't flaunt your persona---don't show your personal beliefs---don't make it easy for the enemy to use your weaknesses against you.

lol MK seems you took it more seriously than it was intended to . I was saying in retrospect to your previous posts . Your previous posts are quite mature and hold some substance but this time round your post puzzled me so had to say this though in mockery . And i know you are elder than most of us here in reality . But that was on a lighter note

There are some great pictures in the gallery - the U.S. general with the cowboy hat - rodeos are traditionally a cowboy/livestock show and contest:

The beards - I understand they are religious in nature, and I firmly believe in the right of an individual to express himself this way with beard or hair, but it still amazes me a bit because there is no way an oxygen or chemical warfare mask is going to seal. If those guys are at 30,000' and the C-130 loses pressure, what are they going to do?

The military is one of few organizations that can (and should) have rules that override certain religious edicts. If one of those guys is a loadmaster, passes out, he will endanger the whole aircraft, because he cannot do his duty.

ground crew and techicians sometimes don beards (trimmed or long ones)...in this particular case, this gentleman is in PAF but he is in the Special Services Wing (the commando unit).

combat pilots of the PAF, as far as I know, for practicality reasons (some which you allude to) are NOT allowed to keep long beards like that; mustache or maintained beard is okay.
