Pakistan Air Force chief arrives in Sri Lanka

Commander of the Pakistan Air Force (P.A.F) Air chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman arrived to the island for a three day visit yesterday (12 Nov). According to Air Force sources, the visit was made following an invitation extended by the SLAF Commander. The visiting Pakistani Air Force Chief is also due to meet several dignitaries in the Sri Lankan defence establishment.

The visit underscores the historic ties and friendly cooperation between the two forces, SLAF sources said. The Pakistan Air Force had extended technical assistance and training for the SLAF during its air campaign against the terrorists.

Pakistan Air Force chief visits Sri Lanka

Pakistan Air Force Commander Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman arrived in the island this afternoon.

Air Chief Marshal Suleman arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) at around 1.30 pm today (November 12), said the Foreign Ministry.

He is scheduled to meet President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Sri Lanka Air Force Commander Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonetileke and other defence top brass. Air Chief Marshal Suleman is also billed to visit the SLAS base in Katunayake during his visit.

He took over the command of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) in March. Suleman, who belongs to Okara, succeeded Air Chief Marshal Tanvir Mehmood Ahmed.

Isn't it strange that there is a JF-17 model, and that also a v big one, on a side table in post 4 picture. It would have made sense if it was Pakistan and we had displayed our plane but why would Sri Lankans do it?

'Sri Lankan' thanks for the pics...

It's a JF-17/FC-1 model without any doubt and no where I indicated I mind Sri Lankans putting JF-17s model or purchasing the AC, on the contrary I will be v much delighted.

I think this pic was taken in Pakistan (I could be wrong) because I do think it will be odd for Srilankans to have a JF-17 model displayed at this point of time where they have no JF-17 or FC1 in their inventory. So far they have only shown interest in it, no deal has been materialized yet. Also it will take a long time before any other AF inducts it. First, we have to fulfill our own requirement.
