So Pakistan will support Assad genocide of syrian people along with iran and russia

but as expected from this govt

Just like we wouldn't give in to Taliban demands and let them rule the country , we categorically defend the right for any government to rule its country as it sees fit. Every peaceful protest should be defended by the government as freedom of a population it has. If those peaceful protests turn violent they should be handled by first the security apparatus within that government and if they fail to maintain peace and security then they should call in the para military and so on and so forth who are equipped to deal with war rather than protests. We face exact similar situation only that turkey and the saudi boys arnt funneling anti tank missiles and giving air cover to the taliban. What would you say if India up's the ante from a few million dollars to many a million dollars out of its embassies?

Instead of arming militias and terrorists with heavy weapons, satellite photos and a large load of dollars try to solve their countries problems with dialogue.

But I have to agree it was a pretty stupid statement to make. It makes no sense in pissing off the pro regime change countries to this extent. We don't even have any dog in that fight. The cause for this knee jerk reaction eludes me.

This was expected never once did Pakistan speak against the syrian government not even when the saudi royals demanded a clear position. Lets not forget the pakistan taliban is fighting alongside the moderates who are also linked to al nusra aka Al qadeda.

No one likes Assad here

But Pakistan as a matter of principle doesn't like foreign sponsored regime change nor changing of borders

Pakistan even opposed the toppling of Qaddafi

This is for good reason as these decisions could have repercussions for us in the long term

Remember two of our neighbors lay claim to our territory

Here is another example of this policy

Pakistan reluctantly recognizing the new state of Kosovo only after Turkish pressure even though its a Muslim state

Pakistan recognises Kosovo - Pakistan - DAWN.COM

"Islamabad had supported Kosovo’s cause in the United Nations.

However, it always shied away from officially recognising it because of implications of such a move.

The unilateral declaration of independence by Kosovo was seen as a precedent for resolving ethnic conflicts on considerations other than territorial integrity of countries. It was also feared that the Kosovo principle could at a subsequent stage be applied to other separatist movements."

Pakistanis here who have their whole world view centered around Iran and Saudi Arabia need to recognize this

Pakistan, already have ditched KSA and Iran on different occasions ...
once we are clear of in house mess and block the border of Afghanistan which the army is working on, we will be able to have stronger say on the Muslim world matters ..

I still cant forget the words of Palestinian guy here in London... He was like , we are looking towards Pakistan and we know things are hard for you guys as well in Pakistan , but we only have hope from Pakistan once they clear the mess in home and we want it to get clear soon, InShaAllah ...

I had a detailed discussion with him , he was like actually Palestine was sold by Arabs who we trusted as we were Arabs too, in addition we had alot of problems which put us in this mess .. but that time Pakistan was new country but now things are changing, Pakistan is the strong nation with strong army and we have only hope from Pakistan ..

These are the words of Palestinian guy ..

Same goes with the Syrian people , they know who is against them and created the mess in arab world .. they created the mess in Iraq with the Help of ISIS and pushed it into Syria just like they wanted to push it into Pakistan via Afghanistan but failed due to strong army in place .. Syria failed to stop that push as people thought we are going to be good without Assad ,but it was hijacked by trained ISIS guys...

i hope some of you get the point here...

Toppling governments by Supplying weapons is not an art we are known for
how old are you?
ever heard of taliban? toppled the commies to rule from 96-2001. that was definitely us.
on topic, excellent decision, im all praise for it. first decline to part in yemen and now this.
although i agree we might be pissing off too many people at once but at the same time we're making new alliances, and thats how the world works. i hope we have an appropriate plan of action in place to promote our govt's decision in the public's eye. we need mass approval to show our stance is right. and according to dawn's poll 75% people think its the right decision.

Irresponsible statement. Regardless of Pakistan's official position on the Syrian matter, it shouldn't be advertising its position this openly at a time Pakistan's strongest allies Turkey & Saudi Arabia are actively working to topple the Syrian government. It only creates ill will for Pakistan among its traditional allies & friends.

Actually forgive me but I don't get the point

What in your view should the objective of the Pakistani state in the long term???

Jinnah wanted a welfare state for the Muslims of South Asia

How about we just focus on that???

It is extremely disturbing here that we have Pakistanis here who are more Saudis than Saudis themselves and more Aytullah fanboys than Iranians themselves

You should have told the Palestinian that they have more chance of securing rights for themselves if they work with the moderates within Israel than hoping for help from fellow Arabs and lobbing crude rockets into Israel

I think its the right step to take,..

I think not but I totally respect your opinion and you have every right to it.

See what happened to Iraq, Libya and other countries where these powers tried to change the rulers over night ... the mistakes should not be repeated again and again .. this shows some other agenda is in focus ...

Yes its a huge mess. It actually makes you think that perhaps psycho dictators were the lesser of evils.. I mean these nations are destroyed and whats coming out of it is destroying the world. Isis is the birth of these wars and the powers who support such genocidal acts have their hands red with blood. Three nations and now four are destroyed.. We have Yemen, Syria, Iraq and Libya destroyed with no semblance of control and a struggling Afghanistan. This invade first and think later has effected the entire world.

change should come over time and by the will of people not at the hand of armies eliminating every working department , law & order and by supporting rebels as most of the criminals basicaylly join them to enjoy the power and results are in form of what we have in iraq and libya ..

Yes. The world is not unfamiliar to revolutions and even bloody revolution... However it didn't lead to the destructions of nations and that's bcz the revolution came by the people and the people sincerely wanted to bring a change... I truly believe these terror organization be it any front fighting will not be able to create a govt and control. They will be fighting amongst themselves and of they do create a govt it will be one filled with dictatorships.... These nations are not going through revolutions.. They are going through wars.. Death rules there..

we have taken the right steps and being powerful country in Muslim nations, we need to have strong say ...

We had a very strong say when we said that we won't go to Yemen. It showed that turkey and pakistan will not be pushed around.. However in this issue we should have stayed quite. Feel the moment. China has stayed relatively quite and India as well. We should have stayed quite as well.

GCC and Saudia depends on Pakistan for every war they engage themselves in, so we need to have upper hand and stop them where we see they need to back off...

They depend bcz they are weak. We have been fighting since our creation and our forces are battle hardened and we showed that we can't be controlled in the Yemen war. Military they may be weak but politically they are strong aka Europe USA nexus. Thus staying neutral and giving them the snub when it suits us or our interests collide is a good policy...

Remember foreign policy is all about beneficial intetests and not about right or wrong...

I understand the reason but believe it be a bit preemptive..

If you didn't get the point then leave it mate ..
Yes Pakistan have its own objectives and we should be working towards that , but we can't just sit there with the powerful army and see everyone killing normal humans in other muslim countries.

It is extremely disturbing here that we have Pakistanis here who are more Saudis than Saudis themselves and more Aytullah fanboys than Iranians themselves
you have missed the context here from my last comment that we have ditched KSA and Iran on previous occasions when it was needed ..

So what you are suggesting that they should accept the Israel and forget about their rights of Palestine ? which Israel taken over by the deal with UK ? so why don't you apply the same rule to Kashmir ? or Baluchistan ?

Tell Kashimiri people that they need to work with Indian occupied forces and dont fight with them .. ???

Now It is extremely disturbing here that people like yourself are more westernized then people living in west ...
General people of Palestine will never going to accept Israel, it does not matter how strong they are or going to be just like Kashmiri people never going to accept occupied army of India ...

I think not but I totally respect your opinion and you have every right to it.

Its their problem they should solve it, We should focus more on our country. Nobody came to our help and interfering in other countries affair should not be our policy.

what kind of current benefits we are having from GCC?There are sitting on trillion dollars reserves and Pakistan has been at war for almost 10 years now.Did they ever said that we are gona help Pakistan in this fight and stabalise its economy or help it buy some defence products
There are 2 million pakistani workers in the gulf

This shud not be a matter of foreign relations and finances....
Whats wrong is wrong...

Alasad massacred and tortured hundreds of thousands ....
His forces are involved in every atrocity under the sun including rape....

I m sory i cannot support this stance

very right step by Pak govt.... It is need of hours..
On one hand it is Saudi+ Israel +Isis+ US vs Russia+China
We can never accept Israel+ alliance.. thats all

Al-Bakistanis blowing off their heads left and right on this thread.:flame::flame::flame:
Sensible statement by Foreign office:tup::tup:,we already have enough terrorist hotspots around the world and toppling Assad would mean we hand over Syria in a platter to ISIL.Instead of mindlessly following the ummah banner try using brains for once.
Secondly Pakistan is warming up to Russia, this was just a matter of when not if.

Syrian crisis: Pakistan against any attempt to topple Bashar al-Assad - Pakistan - DAWN.COM

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Wednesday stated that it is against any attempt to topple the government of Syrian President Bashar al Assad.

"Pakistan is also against foreign military intervention in Syria and fully supports the territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic,” said Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry.

It is pertinent to mention that since the start of the Syrian conflict, Pakistan had maintained a policy of strict neutrality. The statement from the foreign secretary marks a significant shift in Pakistan's policy on the ongoing Syrian crisis.

The foreign secretary was speaking at the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, which met earlier at Parliament House in Islamabad.

Pakistan’s stance on finding a peaceful solution for the Syrian crisis was also reiterated on the occasion.

    Read: A flawed alliance

Earlier, the adviser to prime minister on foreign affairs, Sartaj Aziz, had told the Senate that the exclusion of some Islamic countries from the Saudi-led 34-nation anti-terror alliance will be discussed at international level.

Pakistan was named as part of the Saudi-led 34-nation anti-terror alliance meant to combat terrorism, without first getting its consent, and found itself in the crosshairs of Middle Eastern politics.

Later, after initial ambiguity, the Pakistan government confirmed its participation in a Saudi-led military alliance for ‘fighting terrorism’, but said the scope of its participation would be defined after Riyadh shared the details of the coalition it was assembling.

The Saudi government surprised many countries by announcing that it had forged a coalition for coordinating and supporting military operations against terrorism in Iraq, Syria, Libya, Egypt and Afghanistan. The headquarters of the new Saudi-led coalition would be based in Riyadh.

Director General of Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt Gen Asim Bajwa had also stated earlier in November that Pakistan will not send its troops for any mission outside the region.

This is not the first time that Saudi Arabia has named Pakistan as part of its military alliances without Islamabad’s knowledge and consent. The Saudis earlier named Pakistan as part of the coalition that carried out operations in Yemen and a Pakistani flag was displayed at the alliance’s media centre.

Pakistan later declined to join the Yemen war.
Wait for it and see how Sartaj Aziz the clueless will pull a contradictory statement out of his behind
Pakistani foreign stance is so irrelevant that no Arab master bothers consulting this government
