There seems to be greater reconciliation between the two countries? The biggest hurdle for peace is Indian presence and activities, particularly indian terrorist attacks into PK. Once the afghans get rid of these nefarious players from the game, then peace can pursued and the economic gains can be achieved, connecting the CARs to CPEC will bring in billions of trade and revenue for both countries.

these Afghans are nothing but looter who are installed by the empire to control the mineral wealth of Afghanistan, they depend on blame game, they know very well Pakistan has no link with present day Talibans. These Talibans are self sustained entity whose source of income and drugs bought by CIA and weapons sold by CIA to make this conflict going. But these begherat Afghans knowing very well wont speak the truth

Their insurance policies ie US funded/backed/armed ANA and ANP are being obliterated with the help of covert Russian and Iranian support to the Taliban. Even according to Afghan army sources who drastically understate their losses, Taliban are killing them by the scores. The casualty rate was so high that Pentagon classified the information last year.
Not all are casualties however. The corrupt Afghan generals are claiming resources and salaries for troops only existing on paper, but in any case the situation is reaching a critical point. Hence the change in posturing.

If the ANA collapses, they are done for.

you need to vent your frustration towards the mayor of Kabul who is a self styled servent of Narinder Modi. You seem to believe that this initiative will work? One little hiccup and the blame game will start again with accusations and finger pointing at Pakistan and then back to the begining. Personally I've lost all faith in the Pak & Afgan leadership. Mr Ghani says many positive things when such peace processes are initiated between Pak & AFG but the second Uncle Sam arrives in Kabul or Mr Ghani and his government decide to have a tea party in New Delhi with the Hindutva elite the Pakistani bashing ignites. frankly i can't take the Afgahan serious!

I don't need to vent jack its you who needs to vent out your frustration. I just spoke the truth and this it how it is Afghanistan needs to sop playing a double game otherwise will get hurt bad and US will do nothing to help them period.

KABUL - President Ashraf Ghani said on Saturday an agreement has been made with Pakistan – in writing – on rooting out terrorism, reported Tolo News. <link>

Addressing an event in Kabul, the president said achievements had been made with Pakistan on finding a solution to the Taliban problem in Afghanistan .

“The issue of Taliban should be solved in our relations with Pakistan. Some things have been done in this respect and some things are still needed to be done. It has been agreed on paper for the first time. The Afghanistan-Pakistan negotiations framework is now on paper. Now, serious actions are required,” he said.

He said there have been improvements in terms of uprooting terrorism.

“We should clearly agree on this, on how we will work with each other in the future and how we will prevent other movements,” he added.

Ghani did not however give details on exactly what the agreement entailed.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Kabul Zahid Nasrullah stressed the need for the strengthening of Kabul-Islamabad ties. He talked about Islamabad’s role in ensuring peace in Afghanistan.

“We welcome the ceasefire and strongly supported it. Pakistan’s President Mamnoon Hussain was in China when he announced that Pakistan is strongly supporting the ceasefire. Pakistan knows its role well in peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan and we will fulfil our role very well,” he said.

Ghani meanwhile said one of the options which will improve Afghanistan-Pakistan ties would be to turn the country into an economic hub.

Mr Ashraf is an educated man, and I expect such behavior from him. I think if problems with Afghanistan are solved, and China is also trying hard to bring India on board, this region will become most fruitful and useful for international community.

Afghanistan is occupied and being used by several states against Pakistan. Can't blame me for suggesting this? India always wanted Afghanistan and it sure does have a piece of the land with the Afghan Gov constantly siding with them. My frustration is actually with Pakistan to get the border fence up quickly. Or does this also offend you?

Unless we have a genuine change of leadership in Kabul, nothing will change on the ground, regardless of flowing statements about Pakistan-Afghan unity. If you are at the table with India, Israel, and Trump, then those are going to remain your masters.

Fresh leadership in Afghanistan is key. We should help by sending refugees back, with dignity and respect, who will force change on their government for better ties with Pakistan.

When Afghanistan becomes a friendly country again, then we can talk business, immigration, cooperation, etc.
