Pakistan, Afghanistan deploy tanks as fencing dispute escalates

Pakistan wants to stop terrorists getting through and wants to fence their own side of the border, what's the big deal. Is Afghan side concerned because they can't send terrorists over that easily?

Either Northern Alliance is too stubborn or too stupid or both. I'm not in favour of a war on this border with them but they should already know how it's going to end up if it starts.

Looks like Northern Alliance doesn't mind throwing their soldiers lives away.

The Afghan Indian counterparts who send their best and brightest suicide attackers to Pakistan across the border are very concerned at this development. This means no more Indian sponsored terror carnage on Pak soil.

Pakistan must make sure that the border doesn't reopen until we have our house in order. Every nook and corner of the volatile border needs to be fenced. Also, we need to review our immigration and refugee policy vis a vis Afghanistan. This should mean a stringent quota system and a solid repatriation plan for the Afghans residing inside Pakistan.

More correct figures are at least 25% of the army pashtun and Ayub Khan, Yahya Khan and Niazi were all pashtuns. Ayub Khan was a Tareen pashtun and he ruled the nation.

Stephen P Cohen concurs and has, being a typical American even declared that Pakistan hires soldiers from Taliban sympathetic areas in his hatred for Pashtuns. This is proof:

Regardless what are you trying to prove here? That pashtuns in Pakistan are marginalized and Pashtuns in Afghanistan developed. Then why does Afghanistan not have any culture, music, movies and the hub for all this activity is Peshawar or to a lesser extent Karachi.

The reality is Pashtuns in Pakistan are doing far better and though Afghans ignored the Pakistani pashtuns for years as slaves of the british even though Pashtuns fought several insurrections against British rule, they are now far more advanced in every field. Now they want the Pashtun lands back as theirs when they are far more advanced.

This issue is purely instigated by the Afghans. They don't want to fence the border, they don't want to stop the illegal movement of Afghan nationals to Pakistan and they don't accept the Durand line. They are causing the problems otherwise there are no problems.
Very thoughtful and factual.

Think of it however you like. I'm simply starting the facts.

The border won't open. Why are you so desperate for the border to open? Remember, you people love the Indians so go to India. Use their hospitals. Stop coming here. We the Pakistanis are your enemy as you so blatantly and proudly like to pronounce to the entire world. There is no reason for you stay in Pakistan.

There is no problem at all with the Pakistani passport. Speak for your own country. Afghans like to obtain the Pakistani passport. As yourself why... It is because you like to travel abroad with our passport. If we are such a third world nation, stop using our passports and stop coming to our country.

Pakistani passports and Afghan passports are first and 2nd worst in the world :(

Yet, you Afghans keep obtaining them. Something is very wrong here.

Bro, the border isn't going to open. It's over. Better get accustomed to it. The Afghans have destroyed their reputation in Pakistan. It is better for the Afghans to leave Pakistan voluntarily. I advice you to opt for India.

Pashtuns are spread all over Pakistan. Their biggest city is Karachi. Only an idiot will think Pashtuns are good in Afghanistan than Pakistan. Those Pashtuns at least have an province, we Muhajirs don't even have an province, forget about it, we even don't control Karachi, no local body elections, you know. Pashtuns are also in large numbers in army as compare to Muhajirs.......

This is not a justification. Each and every nation has its own grievances. What i know is Pashtuns are loyal to Pakistan, integrated well in society. Har naam k akhir me tou khan araha hota hai yahan pe......
I am Afghan by origin and also mohajir since my ancestors moved to hind 500 yrs ago and then my grand parents move to Pakistan in 1947. We love each and every citizen of Pakistan regardless of their ethnicity...I'm a proud Muslim, proud Pakistan and proud American. Pashtuns in Pakistan are doing great....especially under PTI,...KPK has become the best province in many aspects....education is one of them. Pashtun are serving Pak army in large numbers and they love Pakistan like anyone else or even more.

You are trolling me mate, won't get into that trap :)

The border will open, there will be no war, and it will be business as usual, Afghans blaming Pakistanis, and Pakistanis blaming Afghans and the rest of the world would still consider us the hotbed of terror breading factory.

You live in Netherlands, tell me the truth, how do you people on the airport treat you when they see your Pakistani or Afghan passport? Bravado aside we are both a 3rd world country.

Afghanistan is a third world country and an LDC . Pakistan doesn't come within the parameters of third world according to united nations there are 48 third world countries including Afghanistan and Bangladesh . Economically we come in developing as we have 26th biggest economy in terms of PPP and 40th in nominal .

http://www.un.org/en/development/desa/policy/cdp/ldc_info.shtml

How are LDCs identified?
The CDP uses three criteria for identifying countries as LDCs:

  • gross national income (GNI) per capita
  • the human asset index (HAI)
  • economic vulnerability index (EVI).

What makes you think that Afghan-Pashtuns are less of sportsman than Pakistani Pashtuns?. In football FIFA rankings, Afghanistan is far ahead of both Pakistan and India. And the progress Afghanistan cricket team has made in short time, is astonishing. We are talking about a country , which is ruins and is war-torn since four decades.

And in Pakistan power resides with Prime Minister, not with President, and there never has been a Pashtun PM in Pakistan. The percentage of Pashtuns in army is also exaggerated by many. Pashtuns are 14.3% of army according to ISPR, even less than Sindhis who are 18%.

Yeah Afghanistan Football team has been dominating the world :sarcastic:

Pashtun population is about 15 % of Pakistan so 15 %-18 is a good representation .

I sympathize with your efforts to build unity among Pakistan and Afghanistan but wouldn't it be wise for Afghanistan to accept the Durrand line once and for all or if not offer an equal partnership or federation with Pakistan uniting Afghanistan and Pakistan as one.

Currently I and many other Pakistanis see Afghanistan as a source of instability for Pakistan. Perhaps Afghans see Pakistan as the same but we have valid reasons to be afraid.
I am supportive of better relations with Afghanis but their govt needs to stop flogging a dead horse to gain political mileage in difficult times
Yes its all a political drama so Ghani could satisfy the hawks and get political mileage by being oh i am anti Pakistan believer of loy Afghanistan
I believe incase of a skirmish even if we get zero damages will be devistating in the long run

Pakistani passports and Afghan passports are first and 2nd worst in the world :(

up until 2008 our passport used to be very good . We usually have no visa issues anywhere and get visa easily if requirements are there . passport power means nothing China's passport will give you only 50 countries on arrival thats low than almost 70 % of the world and china is the second biggest economy in the world .

Passport power comes with how are your relations with countries and if there is a mutual visa waiver programme between the two . A country like Namibia has a UK on arrival but countries like China and Turkey don't . Passport thing is useless. As far as you can get a visa who cares?
