What's new

Pakistan, Afghanistan are not brothers: Ashraf Ghani

man these guys are better off fighting themselves like they've been doing for so many years.

This statement only means that he is trying to build up his negotiating position by appearing to take a harder public stance, that is all.
Please tell me how is he on negotiating position when they have just lost Kunduz city which is a major city. The thing is, Afghanistan is in no position to act tough, they need to negotiate and by having the current pro leadership in politics, NDS, I doubt there future to be good.

Of course. That is true for all relationships between countries. In international geopolitics, only national interests matter. Any claims of brotherhood by anyone are mere expressions of sentimentality for consumption of the gullible masses.

Yes, definitely true as far as textbooks are concerned however in the real world how masses and governments perceive each other is of paramount importance.

Examples of this are:
1. The "special" relationship between the US and UK.
2. The "West" being used as a collective term
3. The "special" relationship between the US and Israel

etc. etc. etc.

For a permanent solution we should enhance our means of propaganda against the Indian propaganda which ensures the general public in Afghanistan that Pakistan is your Enemy No.1.
We should invest in Media like pashto channels with Pro Pakistan talk shows etc . Training ANA ANSF in Pakistan . We need to change minds .

Pakistani media organizations are not allowed to setup shop in Afghanistan -- they tried but were denied by the Afghan government organs.

You are entitled to your views, but public posturing in such a manner is only a superficial prelude to the real negotiations happening now, that is all. Besides, there are many other players in this particular games than just Afghanistan and Pakistan.

In all of these examples, respective national interests still reign supreme, to the exclusion of all else, especially when push comes to shove.

Afghans have always been self centred back stabbing bastards. Pakistan needs to get over this so called Ummah BS and consider them an enemy state and treat them as such. They are dependent on us for alot of things, its time we teach them "You dont bite the hand that feeds you"
