Pakistan Aeronautical Complex to joint-manufacture 48 Wing Loong II UCAV

48 drones against s 400 ? Am sorry i dnt get it
Oye yaar these drones(if the news is true) aren't acquired to counter S400. Don't listen to these wannabe experts over here acting like they know these things. Nowhere in the world armed drones(the likes of Wing Loong II) have been used to take down air defense systems.

Pakistan has been wanting MALE armed drones for a while to aid in its efforts against eliminating terrorists long before India had signed anything to acquire S400. US refused to supply Pakistan such armed drones...so Pak has turned to China. The main advantage they offer is being able to loiter over an area in addition to strike capability...something fighter jets can't do.

To a certain extent...this would also save fighter jets(for precision strikes) and attack helicopters from being used against TTP...saving precious and limited airframe life.

The MQ-9 Reaper-lookalike has a maximum payload of 480kg, can fly for up to 20 hours and has a top speed of 370km/h

China and Pakistan have agreed a deal to jointly manufacture an advanced Chinese drone, according to reports from the South Asian country, in a sign of their growing security ties.

A total of 48 Wing Loong II unmanned aerial vehicles will be built by Chengdu Aircraft Corp (CAC), a unit of Aviation Industry Corp of China (AVIC), and Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) Karma, according to a social media post on Saturday by the Pakistan Air Force’s Sherdils aerobatic team.

No other details of the deal were revealed, but if confirmed, it would be China’s biggest ever drone sale to another country.

Wing Loong II first went on display at the China Airshow in November 2016 in the southern city of Zhuhai, and made its maiden flight the following February.

Developed by AVIC, the drone is designed for both reconnaissance and strike missions, and has a payload of up to 480kg (1,060lbs), including YJ-9E anti-ship missiles.

Powered by turboprops it can fly for up to 20 hours at speeds of 150-370km/h and has a maximum altitude of 9,000 metres (29,500 feet).

Similar in appearance to the US-developed MQ-9 Reaper, the Wing Loong II is 11 metres long with a wingspan of 20.5 metres.

The deal between Beijing and Islamabad comes after commercial satellite imagery captured in November showed the Pakistani military may already be operating a Wing Loong I drone. The pictures appeared to show one of the drones in front of a hangar in Pakistan’s Punjab province.

China has also sold the Wing Loong I to Indonesia, Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates.

This toy will be very useful specially at our western border, yesterday Afghan forces intruded into Pakistani territory and firing took place between the two sides, cross border raids are also taking places after every few weeks, drone is the best counter to all these misadventures.

Doval the Devil is no fool!!! He is replacing the Last Afgan with the Last BD!!! I know the Last BD* can't exactly fight with guns, but at the least can bad mouth Pak!!! Something is always better than nothing...

On a serious note, a damn good decision!!!! I hope they integrate some Turkish sub-systems!!! The next in line should be tons of MRAPs....

*Even during the East Pak debacle, the Indian generals were complaining that they lost 5K Indian soldiers during acts of terrorism done in disguise of Mukti Bahini terrorists

If the news about the UCAV is correct and leaked, unintentionally or otherwise, I hope the persons involved in the leak are paid a visit by MI and other agencies as well as the source of the leak from the official side found and strong action taken against the individual.
