Pakistan-A real market for the Mirage 2000-9 ?

in my opinion its all political game.france initially agreed to sell avionics n aesa radar for the jf 17 but probably due to indian lobying they cancelled the deal.india in return is getting rafales n getting her mirages upgraded from france.

Lol.There isn't a Indian lobby powerful enough to dissuade the French or anybody for that matter.I wish we were that mighty.

Why not go for Chinese AESA radars? any updates on that front?

Anyway back on topic,Upgraded Mirage 2000s isn't a bad buy at all.Great safety record,sturdy performance,great weapons payload....even India could look into it.Since it's the UAE Air Force propositioning the sale,the birds are bound to be in great shape.

M2K9 might have factored into PAFs plans earlier, but inspite of some interests within the airforce, there seems to be a consensus that these planes NOW are going to be a bad plan to buy.They are expensive to maintain and give us no advantage over what is available to us from China and even US. OS the time was in 2000s not now.

IMO, There is less chances for PAF to go for this option.There are several reasons.

1) 20 million euro price for used piece is too much.while new JFTblk1 is about 15-20 million $.
2) Used Mirages will have life time around 15 years and after that need upgrade.
3) Even If UAE sell to any country it will take several years to deliver because UAE can not deliver until new rafle are ready to deliver.Till that time PAF might be starting deliveries of JFT blk3 that would be more powerful than these planes.
4) Pakistan is going to induct 50 new advanced version of JFT blk2in few month time that are better than these mirages.
5) France has already refuse to provide heavy weapons to Pakistan due to MMRC.

How option could be considered if price is really affordable that is around 10-12 million $ a piece to replace mirag-3 fighters.

During a visit by Pakistani Prime Minister Yousef Raza Gilani to Beijing in late May, it was reported that China is to provide 50 Chengdu JF-17 Thunder multirole fighters to Pakistan, and that China will pay for the aircraft. According to the announcement in China, the JF-17s will be provided on an “urgent” basis, although this probably means an acceleration of the current production process. It was also stated the JF-17s will have improved avionics–probably the Block 2 configuration

I don't think Pakistan will buy them largely because we now have the option of J10 and JF-17 plus used F-16's from other countries if we cooperate with USA.

Introducing a new platform (which itself is quite old) is never a good choice. You have to think about the requirement/role this new plane will fulfil,etup and maintenance cost of the support infrastructure (a complex thing), availability, ease and price of securing spare parts, and most of all the reliability factor of the supplier, which in this case (France) does not look to be a viable factor.

So,

Many a years ago---many many years ago---I dated this extremely beautiful german woman----she was a bit older than me----but what a woman she was----.
