Pakistan: A civil disobedience will do

Ten thousand looted by the Punjab police from one of the bikers, asking for the return.

Punjab police have been given a free hand to loot and plunder, when they are asked to intrude homes and destroy, loot and plunder, they will do it to others, total chaos and destruction.

Learned a thing from the Generals, the ooper sey order walay.

Civil disobedience, also called passive resistance, the refusal to obey the demands or commands of a government or occupying power, without resorting to violence or active measures of opposition; its usual purpose is to force concessions from the government or occupying power.

Throughout Civil Disobedience, Thoreau presents government as useless in relation to moral issues. Voting is but an expression of majority sentiment, and lacks the power of timely action possessed by the individual. The political process results in the election of those who hold office — available men, who accept the process but are not necessarily guided by principle. Thus, the system perpetuates itself and degenerates over time.

Thoreau underscores the power of the individual to effect reform. He says of the government at the beginning of the Civil Disobedience, "It has not the vitality and force of a single living man. . . ." Later, he urges individuals to fulfill their moral responsibility by taking the action that most would prefer to relegate to external forces:

Some are petitioning the State to dissolve the Union, to disregard the requisitions of the President. Why do they not dissolve it themselves, — the union between themselves and the State, — and refuse to pay their quota into its treasury? Do they not stand in the same relation to the State, that the State does to the Union? And have not the same reasons prevented the State from resisting the Union, which have prevented them from resisting the State?

Reform will come only through the individual. Moral issues are the individual's concern. The individual's obligation is "to do at any time what [he thinks] right."

With CPI touching 45 percent or higher, it's almost hyper inflation and people buying power is curtailed badly.

Not possible to pay the electricity bills, which is like 3 times higher than previous.

And with higher food prices, the basic staple food items are getting out of reach of lower middle class to poors.

This is not sustainable.

Jinnah had wished for 3 things from the people he freed from British enslavement.

Faith, Unity and Discipline. Neither people have faith in such a disobedience movement, nor will they find unity in it and most importantly there is no discipline. Moreover people must first know how to be obedient to disobey.

Civil disobedience movement was shunned by Jinnah as he concluded its futility and counterproductive results.

Government gets the finances in the form of direct and indirect taxes from people, and ironically, the same tax money is used by the government to destroy people homes and businesses who shows any dissenting voices, any support for PTI.

Time to stop supporting the unelected government by strangling the money flow, so as to stop them from anti people acts, raiding homes, abducting people, custodial torture, other forms of torture.

If the money flow is curtailed, this will improve and change.

Not relevant today.

If the government, an unelected imposed one doesn't care about the people, their right to elect people representatives, people are well within their right to stop caring about the government.

Anyways, an unelected government can never get the sympathy, empathy, affinity of the people to contribute to them and suffer.

Only an elected government would get that compassion, sympathy from the people to sacrifice, to invoke love and respect, and ignore the suffering for the larger cause, for the country.

Government is a minority stakeholder in Karachi. Nobody cries more about people not paying taxes than PTI.

Creating more problems won't solve the previous ones.

Grab a reality check. Vote turnout is almost less than 50 percent in the country.

Democracy starts from home. Let me know when your household starts practicing it beyond the tribal patriarchal norms.

Those who cannot pay the bills however must be awarded some form of arrangement which should not include interest based circumstances.

When the basic right of vote is not given to the civilians, why do they have to accept the rules and regulations of the imposed, unelected pseudo government.

Why should people be paying taxes to the government when the money earned is used against the Awam through police torture and abductions, manhandling and then invading homes.

Why should people pay taxes when the Army through LEAs, agencies are kidnapping and torturing civilians. Army gets about 25-35 percent of yearly budgetary allowance, why...to work against the people who pays them.

The people hard earned money in indirect and direct taxes are pilfered, pillaged and wasted by the non appointed government ministers, and with no benefits coming to the civilians.

Only a government of people choice is acceptable, who command the respect, the empathy, affinity of the civilians.

And when they don't care, don't respect the people choices and the right to choose their representatives, the people have a choice to boycott them, the government, the businesses of the establishment and stops paying taxes, government bills, other related things.

There are many other aspects of it that can be added....

this must get a momentum, problem is people have no platform to gather around.

people really need to do an effort if they are well driven and if they have taken message well of the suppression, choking throat to speak or abduction and the humiliation to their women.

the only platform provided can be by the civil society but it seems they are divided, a division enforced upon them and is well taken by some.

the other driving force can be lawyers, hopes are high, expectations as well and people are looking at them now. there is a kind of movement building up among lawyers in their several forums. who knows they are planning on something as it is heard on social media of and on.

there are so many factions in a society and everyone has to pool in.
young generation without any diversification as they are mostly up to it and they will a great driving force if given a platform to gather.

then there is people with white collar job the middle class who are slipping down towards poverty line gradually but consistently,

SMEs, they are huge in quantity and are back bone of the economy and biggest job provider.

labor force who are already on their toes to get some way out and revolt. they can't see their families starving death.

there are several subdivisions we can look into.

in the end people need pool in from everywhere to whatever forum they are provided with, face the threat of torture, abduction, arrests, threat to families, businesses.

to me the only hope is lawyers movement.
