Bern, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) - Exports of Swiss war materials increased by more than 55% in 2008, for a total amount of CHF722 million, and their share of overall exports increased from 0.24% to 0.33%. Sales to Pakistan were 15% of war materials exports, some CHF110 million worth of material. War material sales in 2007 were CHF464.5m.

Pakistan purchased 11 fire control systems and 24 cannons.

Switzerland embargoed shipments of arms to Pakistan 14 November 2007 but in April 2008 it lifted the embargo on orders already placed, following parliamentary elections. No new orders have since been approved for Pakistan.

The second largest batch of exports involved sales of Piranha and Eagle tanks to several countries for CHF193 million. Finland purchased 18 training and combat Hawk Mk-88 airplanes and their weapons for CHF30 million. Saudi Arabia purchased two air defense systems for CHF30m.

Pakistan was the largest overall buyer of war materials in 2008, followed by Denmark, Germany, Belgium and Great Britain.

sounds good to me, however the swiss are "neutral" so they will sell to any country as it is considered a business!

swiss oerlikens gun systems only. they r supposed to be very effective.
