Pak Suzuki to replace Mehran with 660cc Alto

Damn its replacing 800cc with 660 cc ? why not with 1000 cc engine

they are also launching 1,000cc Celerio ..... as for 800 CC Mehran ... 660 CC Alto is better in all parameters !

.
Hope we could see cooperation on car industry in Pakistan!
Well Andrew I won't lie to you. I would have preferred that Europe was the one to open up Pakistan and guide it along the path of progress like it has done for Turkey. However being a realist I understand that geography has militated against it. With Iran being what it is with regards to the West, it effectively blocks off Pakistan from Europe.

However right next door geography has blessed Pakisan with emerging hyperpower - China. With creating of physical transport corridor, the CPEC China offers Pakistan the only way to being a modern society. I have no doubt that the centrifugal force unleashed by Chinese economy will pull Pakistan into it's vortex that will pull it up screaming 'Allah o Akbar'.

The effects of this are already visible in Alma Aty in Kazakstan or the border between China/Kazakstan with miles of lorries crossing over. As Pakistan is exposed to more Chinese economy the effects might be painful for some in the short term as old profiteering rackets are broken down but over the long term good will come. No doubt about that.

They haven't replaced cultus with celario which was announced months ago, instead of that they increased cultus price.let alone alto

Celerio is also lika a baby that only mother can love. Seems like they want to impose only ugly shapes on Pakistanis.

Suzuki to Phase Out Mehran, Will Introduce New 1,000cc Celerio Next Year

Pak Suzuki is planning to phase out Suzuki Mehran from 2018 to replace it with locally manufactured 660cc Suzuki Alto. This is happening despite the fact that local vendors are going to oppose the move due to massive sales of Suzuki Mehran parts and accessories.

Suzuki Mehran is one of the most successful cars in Pakistan and more than 70 percent of its content are produced locally.

In another news, Suzuki is also hoping to introduce 1,000cc Celerio in March 2017 to phase out Suzuki Cultus.

It maybe recalled that Suzuki Cultus was introduced in year 2,000 to replace Suzuki Khyber. Similarly Mehran was introduced in 1988 when Suzuki had discontinued Suzuki FX 800cc.

Pak Suzuki said that its new 660cc alto will be fully produced with-in Pakistan to ultimately replace the iconic Suzuki Mehran 800cc.

The was discussed during a Senate’s Standing Committee on Industries and Production that visited Pak Suzuki Motor Company Limited (PSMCL) plant yesterday.

Senate’s Standing Committee delegation was led by Senator Hidayatullah and included Khalida Parveen, Kalsoom Perveen and Chaudhry Tanvir Khan.

Additional Secretary, Ministry of Industries and Production, Sher Ayub Khan and Engineering Development Board CEO, Tariq Ejaz Chaudhry were also part of the delegation.

Senators were told that Suzuki has already started the arrangements for local manufacturing of 660cc Alto car.

Suzuki also revealed that it is aiming to introduce imported Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV and 1,300cc Sedan Ciaz in 2017.

Chinese automobline industry has a long way to go..
It's very hard to challenge the very established brands which have existed for decades.
China's focus is more on new-energy vehicles.

China has missed the last several rounds of technological revolution.
Hope China and other developing countries won't miss the new one.

The only Chinese vehicle that did have some success in Pak was Cheryy QQ... and now we dont even find it anywhere on the road..

in mid 2000s... Geely also tried entering with their economic sedans but didnt make it...

There are 2 problems any brand in Pak faces:

Monopoly of japanese assemblers who are looting people and selling shyt at the price of gold.

Availability of spares for new vehicles.. unless any other brand enters .. it should also establish a factory for spares etc.. otherwise.. you may sell a few thousand or hundred thousand units.. but they will fail in the long run... you have to have support facilities for your vehicles ... and bribe the govt.

Suzuki and economical are totally different things

I am not aware of Suzuki autos in Pakistan. But in India Suzuki is the cheapest to buy and most economical to maintain. that is the sole reason for its selling over a million cars last year

August 2016 has already shown signs of improvement as market leader Maruti Suzuki collectively sold over 1.32 lakh units as against the 1.17 lakh units last year during the same month, registering a growth of 12.2%. Maruti Ciaz and Maruti Vitara Brezza were the key players last month.

Yes, an ecosystem is important.
A supply chain is the key to sustain a localised brand.

In Canada when we say Economical we mean good gas consumption and for that Suzuki is the worst, totaly failed brand in North America.

Recently FAW has entered the market.. but people are reluctant to buy these vehicles.. although many have bought the above V2 model and i see Islamabad and RWP cops with FOTON pickups..

Several Pakistani companies have also tried and failed because of Japanese monopoly... Chinese being Paks largest trading partner can however influence the govt to hammer those bastards and pave way for chinese and even european companies... Renault,VW etc have tried in the past... leading to the new automobile policy which i believe is still in a limbo coz of japanese turd assemblers..

In India people are very conscious of average fuel consumption i.e. running cost of the car. And Suzuki beats the rest in this category also. The model posted by me returns 22 KM per liter of Diesel
