Pak readying new anti-terror strategy
Sun, Jan 17 05:10 PM

Islamabad, Jan.17 (ANI): Pakistan is readying a new a counter-terrorism policy under the newly formed National Counter-terrorism Authority (NACTA).

During a closed-door meeting, NACTA chief Tariq Parvez said the new policy would be prepared within the next six months.

"We are trying to formulate the new counter-terror policy in next six months, the new policy will be prepared with the consultation of all the stakeholders," The Dawn quoted Parvez, as saying.

Former Foreign Minister, Inaam-ul-Haq, who was also present during the meeting, said that it was important to define terrorism first while working out a strategy against it.

"We should define terrorism knowing that we should not include the national liberation organizations in the orbit of terrorism. And the role of NACTA should also be defined whether it is an advisory body or has some operational role," said Haq, who is considered an integral part of the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI).

Replying to noted journalist, Ahmed Rashid's query that whether the ISI has also been taken on board regarding the anti-terror policy, Parvez said he has had several meetings with ISI Director General, Lieutenant General Ahmed Shuja Pasha over the issue.

"The ISI is on board and I have held a number of meetings with the current DG, Lt.Gen.Ahmed Shuja Pasha, who is supportive of NACTA's role," he said.

With reference to the highlighted part, does it means scumbags like LeT, JuD will be now out of GOP's anti-terrorism radar? Can some learned member enlighten please?

Reading those highlighted part I am also thinking the same way as the thread starter did..is it that the case then its dangerous for both Pakistan and India..:frown:

BTW the exlusion of national liberation organizations from the orbit of terrorism also include those who wanted freedom inside Pakistan too??

SEAL OFF THE BORDERS. THEN CLEAN AND SWEEP.

So what's new in it? What will happen if Pakistan policy makers adopt the stratergy you suggest?actually they already implemented this stratergy long before but if you analayze intently, one can easily understand they (Policy makers) fail miserably .. do you know why?
most of people (not all) in pakistan they segregate the terrorism in to Categories.. Good and Bad ... Terrorism is like a disease , once someone get infected by this disease he/she will no longer be a good person for society ...

It goes both ways. The difference here is that us Pakistanis are at an inflection point where we have no choice but to deal with our devils. You folks have yet to accept the problems you have, dealing with them and resolving them are all far off. All this bruhaha about the economic progress will be severely impacted if you and your country do not start dealing with the massive inequities and also the social and ethnic issues.

To your point about us being in the ICU, do recognize that you folks are in the general ward and could very soon be on a bed next to us in the ICU if the issues highlighted above and the poverty of half a billion are not corrected.

Once Indians accept Pakistan from their heart then we can try to change the environment. Until we have Indians like Advani who tried to kill Quaid-e-Azam then we cannot have peace. If Indians kill Advani or hand him over for the outstanding charges against him in a Karachi court, then we can discuss peace. India also need to hand over terrorists from RAW Col. Prohit who bombed Samjotha Express and killed 93 Pakistani Citizens. Until Indian terrorism is punished and defeated peace cannot be achieved. We need to seek Advani's extradition to Pakistan for terrorism in 1946, so we can change our books in 2010 and close the chapter from 1946 as suggested by an Indian earlier.

No Sir, I seek to disagree with your presumption about the different predicaments of India and Pakistan. I believe that the difference between the Indian and Pakistan situation today is that while India has been fighting the Pakistan fomented insurgency all these long and bloody years, got to learn at Pakistan's expense that Rottweilers are not good domestic dogs, they are only good as attack dogs. Hence, never leave your children with them or they will eat them up.

So India never flirted with the idea of motivating its own individuals to go fight an insurgency. While on the other hand, in the zest of destroying India, Pakistan under the leadership of its autocratic Generals, followed a different path hence the state of health that you referred to.

Your points about the poverty alleviation necessity in India is very valid and I agree with you on that.

Oh!! so you have only one border on the afghan side....or the eastern border can't be sealed coz brothers have to cross over. The good terrorist who take orders from you and kill only on the Indian side.

Maybe it is anti terror strategy on the western border and pro terror on the eastern border.......poor kufars in the east don't deserve any better.

Does your nationhood have any other purpose than to see death and destruction of the Indian state. In such a scenario what should we expect from you.

All we can do is to wish each other all the best in doing what we intend to do.What we intend to do is what each of the country has to decide on their own.
