For water, I rather trust Kashmiris with the water Pakistanis rely on than Indians thats why I support an independent Kashmir. Pakistan doesnt have that much to lose, look at the map..Azad Kashmir is really a small tiny strip of land.

.
Lets say most of the pakistan is telling that indian govt is not taking care of it. US will assure them a freedom to live, but it wont be part of pakistan. What will u tell for that

The only way that can happen is if USA plans to attack India, China and Pakistan and Russia simultaneously after signing a pact with the all sects on three sides of the border.

The land with no mineral and land resources worth mentioning ?

Ha Ha you need to get of the weed.

Forget guys. Its going to remain what it is. You keep your side of Kashmir and we ours.. I don't think there will be anything better other than openning the borders... Sooner we accept this reality better it will be for the whole region. Only time I can think of a free Kashmir is when India and Pakistan both are broken up into many smaller nations. Who cares if Kashmir is free in that situation.

because of Kashmire we lost East Pakistan it aint that easy buddy unless NATO + India attack Pakistan ; once again Pakistan alone if Pakistan & Iran decide to fight NATO n India i am sure India will lose all of its land into 50parts and US AMP are 200,000 in Afganistan not that much and with the 73& of Kabul controlled by Taliban

I must say Mister SD ur faith in a Shia Iran and Communist China to lead their economies into shambles just to protect Pakistan by physical military action is really laughable.

Just see how they have attacked Israel and wiped it out of the map to save the Hamas.

Northern Areas are different, the people from that region are not Kashmiris and they dont call their land Kashmir. Unlike the pothwari speakers of Azad Kashmir, the people of Northern Areas dont even call themselves Kashmiris because they say their land is not part of Kashmir.

The Northern Areas of Pakistan are liberated territory and include Gilgit, Skardu, Dir and other areas which were states that have been absorbed into Pakistan. These states were not part of the Dogra Kashmir and decided to join Pakistan in 1947. Today the Northern Areas have their own provincial assembly

Historically The Gilgit and Northern Areas have never been part of Jammu and Kashmir.

In 1935, the British demanded J&K lease to them for 60 years Gilgit town plus most of the Gilgit Agency and the hill-states Hunza, Nagar, Yasin and Ishkuman. The leased region was then treated as part of British India, administered by a Political Agent at Gilgit responsible to Delhi, first through the Resident in J& K and later a British Agent in Peshawar. J& K State no longer kept troops in Gilgit and a force, the Gilgit Scouts, was recruited with British officers and paid for by Delhi.

On 31 July, the Governor arrived to find “all the officers of the British Government had opted for service in Pakistan”. The Gilgit Scouts’ commander, a Major William Brown aged 25, and his adjutant, a Captain Mathieson, planned openly to engineer a coup détat against Hari Singh’s Government. Between August and October, Gilgit was in uneasy calm. At midnight on 31 October 1947, the Governor was surrounded by the Scouts and the next day he was “arrested” and a provisional government declared.

Hari Singh’s nearest forces were at Bunji, 34 miles from Gilgit, a few miles downstream from where the Indus is joined by Gilgit River. The 6th J& K Infantry Battalion there was a mixed Sikh-Muslim unit, typical of the State’s Army, commanded by a Lt Col. Majid Khan. Bunji controlled the road to Srinagar. Further upstream was Skardu, capital of Baltistan, part of Laddakh District where there was a small garrison.

On 4 November 1947, Brown raised the new Pakistani flag in the Scouts’ lines, and by the third week of November a Political Agent from Pakistan had established himself at Gilgit. Brown had engineered Gilgit and its adjoining states to first secede from J&K, and, after some talk of being independent, had promptly acceded to Pakistan. His commander in Peshawar, a Col. Bacon, as well as Col. Iskander Mirza, Defence Secretary in the new Pakistan and later to lead the first military coup détat and become President of Pakistan, were pleased enough. In July 1948, Brown was awarded an MBE (Military) and the British Governor of the NWFP got him a civilian job with ICI~ which however sent him to Calcutta, where he came to be attacked and left for dead on the streets by Sikhs. Brown survived, returned to England, started a riding school, and died in 1984. In March 1994, Pakistan awarded his widow the Sitara-I-Pakistan in recognition of his coup détat.

You have to understand the people who come from those region. The fact is the only real ethnic Kashmiris (who speak the Kashmiri language and follow Kashmiri traditions and culture) reside in Indian Occupied Kashmir (Kashmir valley), most of Azad Kashmiris are basically Punjabis and people of Northern Areas are an entirely different group of people and no one speaks Kashmiri in Northern Areas nor do they understand it.

Its strange that you understand but the whole world including the people in Azad Kashmir believes that NA is a part of Kashmir.

That way people of Jammu, Leh and Kargil people will also claim they are not a part of Kashmir.

You have still not refuted the JKLF leaders statement with concrete neutral sources ?

Gilgit, Baltistan not part of Kashmir, says Indian MP

By Ibrahim Shahid

GILGIT: Gilgit and Baltistan — commonly known as the Northern Areas (NAs) — are not part of the disputed state of Jammu and Kashmir, and Pakistan, India and Kashmir must accept this reality, said an Indian parliamentarian.n.

Two local weeklies — Weekly Naqqara and Weekly Baad-e-Shimal — of the Northern Areas reported Indian parliamentarian Dr Karan Singh saying this at the intra-Kashmir conference in New Delhi on Monday. .

The two weeklies reported that Dr Karan Singh, the son of the maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir and a member of the Rajya Sabah, apologised to the people of the Northern Areas for the forcible occupation of these areas by his ancestors. He said that the governments of Pakistan, India and Kashmir must acknowledge that the Northern Areas are not part of the Jammu and Kashmir and its re-unification was not possible.

The popular weeklies also reported that Farooq Abdullah, the former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, had demanded the Government of Pakistan provide the Northern Areas representation in its parliament.

Haji Fida Muhammad Dilshad, former deputy chief executive of the Northern Areas, and Dr Muzaffar Ali, member of the Northern Areas Legislative Council, told Daily Times that the statements of Dr Singh and Abdullah were according to the true historical perspective of the region and that the Northern Areas had never been the part of Jammu and Kashmir.

They said that the Pakistani government should declare the region as de-juro part of Pakistan. Presently the people of the Northern Areas have no representation in the parliament and they also lack access to the Supreme Court of Pakistan for the resolution of their problems.

I guess the word neutral source is lost on you ?

Two unknown weeklys in NA publish this crap and you run to the moon claiming you have conqurered it. You really crack me up

You have still not explained why the Pakistan Govt. treats it like disputed territory ?

Why Kashmiri leaders in Azad Kashmir call it a part of Kashmir ?

These are Dr Singh's (an Indian's) quotes. I couldn't find an Indian source, or a neutral source, on what Dr Singh said..but I dont see why any news source, including dawn, would wrongly quote someone.

.
In the end the decision will be with the people of Kashmir. A people don't simply forget they are oppressed and go on with their lives. Kashmir wont stay a police state, and proposing to leave the matter as it is, shows pure desperation and ill intent.

I must say either you donot read what you post otherwise you don't know how to debate ?

Dawn quotes NOT DIRECTLY but unconfirmed sources from two weeklies published in NA areas only whose reporters suddenly appeared in Delhi while the whole mainstream media of Pakistan, India and the world who have 1000's reporters there missed it ?

I must say pathetic!

Anyway please answer my other questions which you have avoided at all costs ?
