First his comment about Siachen unilateral troop withdrawl, then unilateral visa withdrawal for indians, and now this.

Deoband was part of united India.. not "India that is Bharat".

It was formed in Deoband, UP, India; & is still healthy and running there today.

These deobandi's were till partition taken as part of the Islamic nation under the "two-nation" theory.

Actually, these Deobandis from India were the ones that initially rejected the concept of Pakistan. I can explain to you the reasons why they did that as well. Anyways, just as Pakistan became a separate homeland, & the Muslims left behind in India were in a very difficult position, these Deobandis from India started infiltrating Pakistan. Pakistan at that time, as a new nation, accepted people from everywhere, & readily accepted their Muslim brothers (as it was formed on the lines of a Muslim majority, secular country). Pakistan did not know what was coming for it, with the rising presence of Deobandis from India.

Pakistan was formed along secular lines by Jinnah, the rise of the Deobandi presence in Pakistan bastardized this concept, & people started raising the question: "if India is a secular country, how do we differentiate ourselves from India. Why did we ask for independence in the first place"?

So it is correct to state that today's deoband is not deoband at all.. Deoband gained independent in 1947 and moved to Pakistan.what remains is not of those deobandis that were.

Today's Deoband in Pakistan is very much the Deoband in India. Let me quote you some of the wonderful examples from Dar Uloom Deoband, India; it will leave you no doubt where this extremism comes from:

^^^ nobody takes deobandi's seriously, not Indian muslims at least. They are just in news because of their weird fatwas, and some right wing katiyar guy may use it for their own politics.

They also had a fatwa declaring hindus as people of book (seems to be a biggie for them) suddenly everybody went 'wah wah, communal harmony etc'

That is not due to deobandis, it is due to cultural taboos, and majority of muslims live in an area which is poor and deprived(UP and bihar).
I had muslim female collegues in India( but yes, they are from middle class and they are from south)

Muslims like lower caste hindus seeked political power for their upliftment, sadly lower caste hindus succeeded but muslims failed.
Post globalization,indian muslims understand only way forward is economic and social upliftment, which is why demand for reservation in jobs and schools.

The attitude of Indian men is hardly helpful because of the brainwashing from the likes of Dar Uloom Deoband. In Bihar, even though they are poor; you see hardly any women covered in Burqas, whereas you see a lot more of that in UP.

The attitude of Indian men is hardly helpful because of the brainwashing from the likes of Dar Uloom Deoband. In Bihar, even though they are poor; you see hardly any women covered in Burqas, whereas you see a lot more of that in UP.

Well I would say deoband is mostly irrelevent now, thats my observation. Most muslims are bothered about their food/house/cloth than these things. May be you should ask an Indian muslim.

About attitude of Indian males, I agree, they are quite conservative.(deobandi or no deobandi).
