Pak Navy shows interest in Umkhonto (Surface-to-air Missile System)

Our Navy chief looks too old to be the head of PN command.
His white hair doesn't mean he is not fit. I think he is still physically fit than many young Pakistanis. He is still a very good yachtsman and has been representing Pakistan in Olympics.
I'll say Navy has very capable chief after a very long time.

Buddy you are not convinced might wanna check history
Every country follows different doctrine according to the situation
As For Norway and Pakistan many different things come into play e.g
Is Pakistan vs India
India will try to block the harbours and the can do that by stationing there far beyond ground system reach and by deplying A.C which will also provide Air covert to there assest and india also ships with long range sams
As For Pakistan navy the best option is use of its sub fleet to tackle And try to stop indian blockade
At Norway Vs Russia
1st it comes under nato and russia will be to achieve few things first to calture norwegian oil rigs invade norway by its border
Or bypassing through finland but this is hard and will take time because its not a plain land
By using paratroopers

East and most valid option is Sea in that scenario Norway will use close to shore defence assets
Agree 100%

Is Pakistan interested in the Umkhonto SAM?

Last week, the Chief of Naval Staff of the Pakistan Navy, Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah, made an official visit to South Africa. In addition to meeting his counterparts in the South African Navy and discussing matters of mutual interest (such as an invitation to South Africa to participate in a Pakistani naval exercise), the visiting Pakistani delegation requested information about the Denel Dynamics Umkhonto surface-to-air missile (SAM) system.

The current iteration of the Umkhonto is an infrared-guided SAM system with a maximum range of 20km and maximum altitude reach of 8km. Designed to be vertically launched from land and sea (via vertical launch systems or VLS), the Umkhonto is marketed as a modern air defence solution. Besides the South African Navy, the Umkhonto has been adopted by Finland and Algeria.

I just wanna quote Sartaj aziz here .Pakistan will acquire latest technology.

India Recent interceptor test is indigenous made ,not a part of fast moving purchases of foreign system.Russians working with them, and right now South africa form we are going to think abbout umkhonto, that country begin talks with russia and india for bharamous missiles.Pak all efforts are already on surface to surface systems.Time to move some percentage to Defence systems.

Hi,

That is where the utility of a heavy strike aircraft comes enforce---. When you are loaded up with 2 CM400AKG flying at around 250--300 mile boundary and you can still launch them another 200 + miles----.

That would be enough to keep the opponent at a distance.

Very good, PN should strengthen itself in every possible way.

. .
need to get south african HMD
PN already have short range SAM system
in past we got RA'AD , H-2 & H-4 technologies

.
The Umkhonto based VLS system is quite good for near future instead of canister bsed SAMS already used by PN with limitations. The Umkhonto SAM is rapidly passing through development phases and in near future shall be available in Medium to Long Ranges. If installed on Pak F22P frigates and may be on sole OHP may prove to be effective as one member has already posted that Chinese VLS are for heavy ships even VLS Hq16 SAM is out of reach for F22Ps..

.
PN might be looking on it as they are interested in ADA class ships which have western weapons and US SAM (RAM), this system might take place of US RAM system on ADA class ships of PN.

.
The most promising version of Umkhonto (missile) is block II VLS launch but question is did F22P capable to fire in VLS configurations?
Storm shadow is even better if Pakistan can get it

I am not clear on JF-17 could carry 2 CM400AKG on wing stations. Kindly share if you have more info. As per my best knowledge CM400AKG still not test fire even in China from JF-17.
