BEIJING (APP): Pakistani mangoes will hit markets in China from June 10, this year, when first consignment of King of fruits will be transported from Lahore to Kumning, capital city of South-Western Yannan province.

“We are picking Sindhri variety from the farms in Tando Allahyar, Sindh province and after processing and packaging in Lahore, we will airlift first consignment to Kunming on June 10, Adnan Hafeez, Director, Imperial Ventures (Pvt) Ltd told APP on Sunday.

He informed that most Chinese people favor mangoes imported from South Asian countries because of their plump and taste.

“This year, we are offering the product to our end clients directly under business to customer strategy and even if they want to buy one box, we will deliver to their homes”, he added.

He informed that his company will efficiently utilize the air cargo services and express delivery services to supply mangoes to the customers in a very smooth and timely manner, he added.

Adnan Hafeez said that this year, Pakistani mangoes will be available in 4.5 kg and 2.5 kg packings respectively and in the next phases we will also import Chaunsa from Pakistan.

He said that his company is also planning to organize promotional activities in collaboration with the embassy of Pakistan and its consulates to introduce Pakistani mangoes in China.

Pakistani mangoes are of very high quality and Chinese consumers have an emotional attachment to Pakistani products because of the Pak-China friendship

According to a Chinese analyst, Pakistani mangoes are expected to enter the Chinese market on a large scale this summer. Last year, Pakistan held mango tasting event in Shanghai and the feedback from the Chinese consumers was very positive.

Pakistan is the third largest mango exporter in the world, and mango is known as the King of Fruits in Pakistan. The soil and climate conditions in Pakistan are particularly suitable for the growth of high-quality mangoes, which can be supplied for five to sic months every year.

Mango is also the main export fruit of Pakistan. In 2018, Pakistan’s mango production reached 1.9 million tons, ranking sixth in the world.

I had opportunity to try these mangos in jburg 3 yrs back. pretty good.

however, i wonder why you are not having pulp industry e.g. to process puree and even dried mangos - it is a huge value add industry. Further, this may be off topic but i have not see a mango based alcohol wine or drink.

Reason i am saying the later - If you look for Amarula drink- Marula is an delicious fruit we get in the wild; elephants love it; issue is it ferments and can be naturally intoxicating; so a liquor is made from it and big seller overseas.

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has rejected reports that the government has presented Pakistani mangoes to foreign dignitaries as gifts and said such reports are “factually incorrect and misleading”.

“We have seen media reports regarding the dispatch of Pakistani mangoes last week as gifts to some foreign dignitaries. We reject these reports as factually incorrect and misleading,” Foreign Office spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhry said on Sunday in a statement.

“A section of the Indian media has carried wrong and irresponsible reports,” he added.

According to Chaudhry, the president of Pakistan sends high-quality mangoes as gifts to selected countries every year as part of goodwill and to promote our trade diplomacy efforts.

“The mango exports increased to $104 million in 2019-20 from $78 million the previous year.”

He said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs prepares a list of countries keeping in mind the quarantine regulations, sanitary requirements as well as availability of flights.

“Since last year, Covid-19 related stipulations are also part of the consideration. For the current year, the process is still in the planning stage. As such, there is no question of dispatch of mangoes to any country,” he added.

I wanted to see the industry. The article says production is 1.9 million tons . The only available prices I could find on alibaba was .20-1.20/KG . Am sure bulk prices would much much lower when someone’s buying in tons. but taking the median price of $.60/KG and if pakistan sells their entire production every year

1,900,000,000* 0.60 = $1.14 billion / year in exports

Your current exports hover around $22 billion a year so mangoes would give a 6% boost to the exports
