Pak mango to enter in Chinese market from June 10

BEIJING (APP): Pakistani mangoes will hit markets in China from June 10, this year, when first consignment of King of fruits will be transported from Lahore to Kumning, capital city of South-Western Yannan province.

“We are picking Sindhri variety from the farms in Tando Allahyar, Sindh province and after processing and packaging in Lahore, we will airlift first consignment to Kunming on June 10, Adnan Hafeez, Director, Imperial Ventures (Pvt) Ltd told APP on Sunday.

He informed that most Chinese people favor mangoes imported from South Asian countries because of their plump and taste.

“This year, we are offering the product to our end clients directly under business to customer strategy and even if they want to buy one box, we will deliver to their homes”, he added.

He informed that his company will efficiently utilize the air cargo services and express delivery services to supply mangoes to the customers in a very smooth and timely manner, he added.

Adnan Hafeez said that this year, Pakistani mangoes will be available in 4.5 kg and 2.5 kg packings respectively and in the next phases we will also import Chaunsa from Pakistan.

He said that his company is also planning to organize promotional activities in collaboration with the embassy of Pakistan and its consulates to introduce Pakistani mangoes in China.

According to a Chinese analyst, Pakistani mangoes are expected to enter the Chinese market on a large scale this summer. Last year, Pakistan held mango tasting event in Shanghai and the feedback from the Chinese consumers was very positive.

Pakistan is the third largest mango exporter in the world, and mango is known as the King of Fruits in Pakistan. The soil and climate conditions in Pakistan are particularly suitable for the growth of high-quality mangoes, which can be supplied for five to sic months every year.

Mango is also the main export fruit of Pakistan. In 2018, Pakistan’s mango production reached 1.9 million tons, ranking sixth in the world.

Pakistan mango festival, Pakistan Week to be held in Shanghai in June


SHANGHAI, (APP) ... Pakistan Consulate General, Shanghai is planning to hold a big mango festival as part of activities to mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, Hussain Haider, consul general of Pakistan in Shanghai said on Wednesday.

“My greatest sense of achievement in China came from the mango festival organized in August last year. This year, we are planning to hold another mango festival on a bigger scale, which will be one of the activities to mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship of Pakistan and China,” he said in an interview.

“Last month, we held an online webinar with Trade Development Authority of Pakistan and Consulate General of Pakistan Shanghai, where six mango plantations in Pakistan introduced the main characteristics of their mangoes”, he said.

Freesia Zhu, vice president of Hongqiao Import Commodities Exhibition and Trading Center(HQIICET) said that her company would be responsible for promotion activities of the Pakistan mango festival this year.
“More than 10 Chinese enterprises participated in the webinar and described the demand of the mango market in China and provided some advice on international trade”.

“Mango ripens in June or July in Pakistan. 900 kilograms of mangoes will be sent to us. We are preparing many activities, including tasting events for consumers and cooperation on mango processing products such as dried mango and mango flavored milk tea,” Freesia said.

HQIICET also has many branches in different cities. They plan to bring Pakistan mangoes to Suzhou branch and Huangshan branch so that more Chinese consumers can taste Pakistan mangoes, China Economic Net (CEN) reported.

“It is convenient for Pakistan goods to enter China from Xinjiang port, but now Pakistan mangoes still have not been largely imported to China. One important reason is the behindhand preservation technology. The road transportation between Pakistan and China is too long while the cost of air transportation is too high.”

Freesia suggested that processed products of mango can be tried. “Dried mango and mango juice are popular in China, and these products have lower requirement of preservation. We suggest that processing plants can be set up in Xinjiang to reduce costs, and bring the taste of Pakistani mango to more Chinese consumers.”

“Pakistan mangoes are of very high quality and Chinese consumers have an emotional attachment to Pakistani products because of the Pak-China friendship. We also suggest that Pakistan strengthen its branding to make the products more acceptable to consumers,” Freesia added.

“The 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan is around the corner. We plan to hold Pakistan Week during the May 5 Shopping Festival, a yearly festival held in Shanghai from 1st of May to 30th of June”, Freesia said.

As a perennial exhibition and trading platform to undertake and amplify the spill-over effect of CIIE, HQIICET wants to help more Pakistan products which has participated in CIIE to enter the Chinese market more conveniently.

“We have discussed our plan with the Consulate General of Pakistan in Shanghai. There will be displays of Pakistani characteristic goods including jewelries, footballs and carpets, and some cultural activities will also be held then”, Freesia informed.

That's just the cost of the mangoes. You get to a ride in the supercar for free.

People across the world love Pakistani mangoes and as our exports find their way to the UAE, residents are rushing to markets to get their hands on some authentic Pakistani produce. Some, however, are sitting tight at home and waiting for their mangoes to be delivered in a supercar.

'Mangoes in a Lamborghini' is a marketing campaign by the Pakistan Super Market in Dubai. As part of the campaign, customers can ask for their favourite fruit — of which more than half a dozen varieties are available — to be delivered in a Lambo, with a minimum order of three boxes, on a first come first serve basis.

When the DHS 150 (or approximately Rs6,300) delivery arrives, the customer gets a short joyride in the Rs50 million supercar. The campaign was introduced last year and became an instant hit, reportedly doubling the sales of the fruit.

Jhanzeb Yaseen, the managing director at Pakistan Super Market Dubai, told the Khaleej Times he will launch the 'Mangoes in Lamborghini' service on June 1 in Dubai and his intention is to spread the message of love.

He said they delivered around 1,100 boxes last year through this seasonal Lamborghini service. They have already received a number of enquiries for mango delivery through the supercar this year.


"We are confident of delivering more than 2,500 mango boxes through the Lamborghini service this season. We have received a very positive response from our last year’s campaign. It was an experience like none other as we have made so many unforgettable memories from our Mango in a Lambo campaign," he said.
"For many kids, it was the first time they were experiencing this and riding in a Lamborghini," Yaseen said.
The coolest thing about the campaign is that there are no additional charges for the special delivery vehicle. "We have decided not to raise the prices this year even though the expenses and logistics costs continue to rise. Even our Lamborghini delivery service is free for all," he said.

Speaking about Pakistani mangoes, he said they are a global favourite, while langra, sindhiri, anwar rattole and chaunsa are some of the most loved kinds. "The most demanded mango variety is definitely chaunsa. As we all know that mango is known as the king of fruits, so chaunsa known as king of mangoes," he said.

Japan approves Pakistan’s Mango facility for exports.

According to the tweet of Abdul Razak Dawood, the Advisor to Prime Minister of Pakistan for Commerce and Investment, “After Australia, now the Japan has also allowed one mango export facility of Pakistan, Roomi Foods Vapour heat treatment plant, has been approved by Japanese Authorities for export of Mangoes from Pakistan.”

The Advisor to Prime Minister has also tweeted that he is glad to share this news with all Pakistanis, whereas he added another tweet stating, “This is the only facility equipped to process mangoes as per Japanese government quarantine requirements.”

This is perhaps a great benefit to mango exports of the country. Moreover, Abdul Razzaq has congratulated them for this and commended the facilitation provided by Department of Plant Protection of Pakistan and Trade Counsel Tokyo Japan.
