'Pak leaders ignoring Kashmir'
RAWALPINDI - Veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani has lashed out at the Pakistani political leadership for what he said putting the Kashmir issue on backburner and doing nothing to settle this core dispute with India.
Pakistani leadership had no quality and ability to dig out the basic reasons and overcome the menace of terrorism that engulfed the whole country, he lamented.
He expressed these views in his telephonic address to the National Kashmir Conference held here at Al-Badar Mujahideen Main Office Rawalpindi on Sunday.
The conference was arranged jointly by Al-Badar Mujahideen and Tehreek-e-Yakjehti-e-Kashmir to highlight the state terrorism, atrocities and violence of Indian forces against the innocent people of Indian Held Kashmir (IHK).
On the occasion, Jammat-e-Islami (JI) Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Ameer Abdul Rasheed Turabi, Ameer Al-Badar Mujahideen Bakht Zameen Khan, Abdullah Hameed Gull, Pakistan Amn Party (PAP) Chairman Haji Mohammad Gulzar Awan and Naveed Masood Hashmi were also present and also addressed the conference.
While speaking, Syed Ali Shah Geelani said that strong association with Pakistan was the part and parcel of our lives but the Pakistani leadership and media had dispirited us very badly.
"Pakistani media is giving the excessive and undue coverage to those who are our enemies and not giving importance to the freedom struggle to the extent that it deserves, he opined.
He said that Kashmiri people have pinned hopes in Pakistan but our gashes were being salted instead of healing by the Pakistani leaders.
Geelani also showed annoyance over what he said, Kashmir issue is being trashed away by Pakistan and freedom fighters no longer enjoy the support from Pakistani side, whether it is the political leadership or the media. He said that situation like this was very painful for them.
