'Pak leaders ignoring Kashmir'

RAWALPINDI - Veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani has lashed out at the Pakistani political leadership for what he said putting the Kashmir issue on backburner and doing nothing to settle this core dispute with India.

Pakistani leadership had no quality and ability to dig out the basic reasons and overcome the menace of terrorism that engulfed the whole country, he lamented.

He expressed these views in his telephonic address to the “National Kashmir Conference” held here at Al-Badar Mujahideen Main Office Rawalpindi on Sunday.

The conference was arranged jointly by Al-Badar Mujahideen and Tehreek-e-Yakjehti-e-Kashmir to highlight the state terrorism, atrocities and violence of Indian forces against the innocent people of Indian Held Kashmir (IHK).

On the occasion, Jammat-e-Islami (JI) Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Ameer Abdul Rasheed Turabi, Ameer Al-Badar Mujahideen Bakht Zameen Khan, Abdullah Hameed Gull, Pakistan Amn Party (PAP) Chairman Haji Mohammad Gulzar Awan and Naveed Masood Hashmi were also present and also addressed the conference.

While speaking, Syed Ali Shah Geelani said that strong association with Pakistan was the part and parcel of our lives but the Pakistani leadership and media had dispirited us very badly.

"Pakistani media is giving the excessive and undue coverage to those who are our enemies and not giving importance to the freedom struggle to the extent that it deserves”, he opined.

He said that Kashmiri people have pinned hopes in Pakistan but our gashes were being salted instead of healing by the Pakistani leaders.
Geelani also showed annoyance over what he said, “Kashmir issue is being trashed away by Pakistan and freedom fighters no longer enjoy the support from Pakistani side, whether it is the political leadership or the media”. He said that situation like this was very painful for them.

Us ordinary Pakistanis have not forgotten our Kashmiri Brothers and Sisters struggle from terrorist india.

When it comes to politicians, they don't care about Pakistanis either.

This move should be appreciated. The logo should be “Pakistan first” and not “Kashmir first”

A well-developed mind and a positive mindset is mandatory to appreciate humour, which is obviously is lacking in some !!

this geelani guy is something else. he expects leaders of a country which is ravaged by natural disasters, suffering henious bombings on average every fourth day, going through the worst period in their existance, to give their time & energy to sponser his antiques??
then again he must be running short of stones, lathis & money to pay weekly wages to these stone pelters. maybe that's his complain against pakistan leaders!!

The Jammu Kashmir Leadership Front (JKLF) is the only really peaceful group trying to lobby for an independent Kashmir, which means independent of both Pakistan and India. My view remains the Andorran Model which takes years and years to achieve, which is why the current Pak and Indian governments are maintaing the "status quo." With status quo you move to establish a single city to be "the" Kashmir Provincial Capital where a Legislature of all parts of Kashmir, Pak, Indian, and Chinese would sit to establish local laws, encourage economic development, etc.

The three current administrators of Kashmir, Pakistan, India, and China would continue indefinitely to provide international relations, security, national defense, all the things and services which a central government provides to it's states.

So, there is no ignoring anything. Here again we have folks lobbying in both India and Pakistan for "their" point of view instead of giving the Kashmiris limited autonomy as a state with shared capital with the LOC becoming the national boundaries but to be open and accessible to and from all three parts of Kashmir, PAK, IAK, and CAK.

Mature non-radical thinking is necessary to move forward, not jibberish and self serving slogans of those wish to "gather spoils" or enforce a religion that is not that of "all" Kashmiris.

Let Kashmir, since Pakistan seems at present unable to do so, become the freedom of all religions center for the subcontinent.

You've got to be shitting me!!

All the violence in 1989, driving driving Hindus/Sikhs out of the valley, bombings, killings was ALL their doing. They're the guys who wanted Dar-Ul-Islam.

Let Kashmir, since Pakistan seems at present unable to do so, become the freedom of all religions center for the subcontinent.

You have no clue.
