Yeah we were good friends with the Shah, but things didn't really change in the way you might expect them too. Yes there is turmoil in Iran and that has an impact, and the new Revolution Iran is often involved in controversies so that makes things harder. But if you are thinking the "we only like the shah not you Islamists" sort of thing then its not there. And Pakistan had its own sort of 'parting' with the US too on more than one occasion (it still might) and both sides have always expressed the need for closer ties. Its just that its hard given the ground situation in both countries, and no one has actually gotten around to doing it. But things are heading in the right direction.

pakistan is not oficially a sunni country and stae has nothing to do with sect or religion of a person.it has registered 18 percent shiite population and non registered is much more than.many of sunni clerics have converted to shiites . only taliban afraid of ali ism
