ISLAMABAD, (SANA): Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said that Pakistan would now allow any country to become Chaudhry of the region.
Replying a question regarding the statement of US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that her country wants to see the leading role of India in the region, Prime Minister Gilani said that Pakistan does not accept any Chaudhry in the region, adding that Pakistan could not bar any persons personal views.
Talking to media persons here on Saturday, he said the incidents of target killings in Malir area of Karachi is a provincial matter, however, he has sought a report in this regard by the Sindh government.
Prime Minister Gilani said that we respect the mandate of the provinces and it is their responsibility to protect the life and property of the people.
Replying to a question regarding resignation of the MQM ministers the Prime Minister said their resignations have not so for been accepted and they still have the status of ministers.
About the performance of the Pakistan Railways, the Prime Minister said he has already directed the Finance Ministry to meet the requirements of Railways, adding that the sum, which is in billions of rupees have been released to meet the needs of the railway.
To another question regarding the arrest of Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fahi in the United States, Prime Minister Gillani said Mr. Fahi has great services for the cause of Kashmiris. He belongs to the Occupied Kashmir. Answering a question regarding the alleged relations of Dr Fai with ISI, he said he will comment on his arrest after having the facts.
Answering a question regarding the reinstatement of NICL corruption case chief investigation officer Zaffar Ahmed Qureshi, Prime Minister Gilani said that he would soon inform the Supreme Court about his reaction over the matter.
He said that on the previous sessions of the parliament he had instructed hi partys chief whip and members to ensure the quorum of the NA and Senate sessions, adding that I personally reached Pakistan by cutting short the UK visit to participate in the sessions.
He said that the suggestions given in the recent sessions of NA and Senate would be consider these suggestions.
Prime Minister Gilani directed the Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh that he should take action against FBR officials for presenting wrong facts about the target of the revenues of the country.
Meanwhile addressing the 13th Annual Award Ceremony of National Highways & Motorway Police Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said that the Government is committed to providing safety and security to the people.
The Prime Minister said the government treats menace of terrorism as the most daunting challenge facing our state and the society. We will do everything we can to empower and enable the National Highways and Motorway Police to combat it. He lauded the services of those who have laid down their lives in the line of duty. He said their sacrifices will not go down in vain as they strengthen our resolve to fight this menace to the very end.
Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said enforcement of law is always seen as a strict and rigid practice but the Motorway Police is proving to be the soft face of the Government in implementing the law. He said it is quite pleasing to know that the effectiveness of the friendly culture introduced by this force is bearing results in the form of decrease in accident rates, traffic violations and serious crimes on our highways.
