Pak Army to grow by 180,000; Change to offensive posture?

Although the news is not making noise on PDF, it very much should. Pakistan Army has quietly increased the number of officers it inducts in PMA Kakul by 33%. Usually that is done when you are planning to increase your military's size.

It is a slow process of course. It will take at least 5-10 years to implement this change as it inducts an extra battalion of officers each year, currently PMA trains 3 battalions of officers. That is a significant increase in size.

Why do you guys think Pak Army is increasing it's size?

Here are possible reasons:

1. The incoming troops might be deployed in three Strike Corps with offensive objectives in any future war.
2. These troops might be for a future Expeditionary Force with foreign deployment planned. The situation in middle east is becoming worse day by day, and we might deploy these soldiers to KSA or other battlefields in the Middle East.
3. Pakistan is forming a new branch of Army. With new deadly weapons like Nasr being inducted, Pak Fauj might need a new artillery corps with a very specific purpose in mind.
4. Might need extra troops to permanently secure our Eastern border with Afghanistan, as you may already know, currently Pakistan has deployed 150,000 soldiers in KPK and FATA. With these incoming troops, we can turn our focus back to our herbivorous neighbors.
5. The new troops may be used to secure CPEC. But i feel that is highly unlikely, the number of troops deployed by FC are sufficient.

Would like everyone's input on this.

I will prefer quality over quantity. We already got a lot of quantity but have a lot of room to develop in quality.
Increasing number of heads do not give enough punch in your force as much an advance weapon system.
Increase budget, increase ratio of size/budget.

I don't think so they will increase the size but the quality just like china they are reducing soldiers but increasing officers. officer is far more trained and wiser as compare to a soldier they can use new and sophisticated weapons quite easily,

One of many quiet changes in Pak Army's approach to increase its fighting arms is transformation of FC into a full fledge fighting force.PA now has to depute more Officers into FC to keep it in steady way up. Also it may be raising another strike corps comprising all necessary combo.Not to forget the protection of CPEC in future.

Well they could be following the mantra quantity has a feel of quality as Lenin once said! Plus Pakistan is in a state of War, experienced soldiers and officers are developed and trained in such cases.

One thing that is certain is that it is NOT BECAUSE OF CASUALTIES.

We have lost at most 30 officers per year in Zarb E Azb. These can be replaced easily by taking in three slightly larger battalions. Pakistan Army is massive in size, alhumdulillah so these losses have no effect on us.

You don't make a permanent new building and change the whole face of PMA to house a new battalion each year, train new instructors and more facilities just to replace casualties. So this reason is completely ruled out beyond a doubt.

You don't use officers as weapon specialists. If it was the reason which you are stating, then we would have increased the number of JCO's we train each year.

You don't train new commissioned officers just because they can fire a little better, which is by the way totally wrong assumption. I have seen too many jawans who are way better at handling weapons than commissioned soldiers. And it will make sense, because they are the ones who will be directly taking part in combat and they are more experienced since they spend more time with those weapons.

PA has a great shortage of officers, so no surprises if they are inducting more.

With PAF doing a good job in softeing up the targets and with extensive use of SSGs in battlefield, the causality rate had not been alarming. Though each life lost was a precious one.

You don't use officers as weapon specialists. If it was the reason which you are stating, then we would have increased the number of JCO's we train each year.

I respect your opinion but u take it wrong we are inducting in near future many new weapons tanks with many sophisticated things which requries one officer and three to four jawans currently we have 1 officer and 60 jawans

Simple yaar...... PA is facing deficiency of officers. There is no other option but to increase the induction ratio per year.

I respect your opinion but u take it wrong we are inducting in near future many new weapons tanks with many sophisticated things which requries one officer and three to four jawans currently we have 1 officer and 60 jawans

Commissioned officers don't work in tanks in that specific way which you are stating, the tank commander is a JCO at most. The armored corps officers usually command several tanks at once and although they are present on the battlefield, but their purpose on the battlefield is not that they drive and fire the tank a little better, but to make tactical decisions concerning the formation.

I think PA should find officer in civilians, its lot of talent available there and they happy to do work with PA
