Pak Army introduces mobile hospital in Lahore

LAHORE: The Pakistan Army has introduced a new facility of mobile hospital in Lahore Garrison to cater for health needs of Cantt residents at their doorstep.

According to ISPR the custom built mobile dispensary has been developed as part of health outreach convenience programme of Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Lahore.

The roving hospital comprises a four wheeler with multiple medical facilities including both male and female Army doctors, laboratory, pharmacy and an operation theatre for minor cases.

The mobile hospital will visit various Cantt colonies on weekly basis to provide on the spot medical support.

This welfare project is yet another step to supplement the already existing capacity of CMH Lahore and Garrison Medical Centres to cater for health needs of even greater number of residents in a shorter time span with hassle free environment without compromising on quality and standards.

For love of GOD. Why Army has to do everything !!!! For me this news is actually hilarious and shows our politicians and their bad performance. And guess what !! when this news came out, When our PM is busy getting treatment in London.

with severe shortage of doctors in army such measures will only make the situation worse in military hospitals which are already inducting large number of civilian doctors( mostly from medical colleges of low profile) to manage their affairs. probably a "baandar phurti " by some med officer in lahore cantt. the problem of our health system through out the country is lack of man power. till the time doctor to patient and nurse to patient ratio is not improved no matter what you do neither the physician nor the patient will get satisfied.
pak is a country which produces doctors in very large numbers but due to sub standard environment in the hospitals, poor pay grades, total lack of merit majority of them prefer to work abroad.

Where army performs roles of govts. and govt officials run out of country over medical checkups.

The Cantt in Lahore has both upper middle class and rich residents. The first two pictures are of army built colonies for retired officers called Asakri( There are 11 of them in Lahore) and the last picture is of central cantt. Nishat colony isn't a part of cantt and has middle class residents.

Cantonment = Garrison = Base.

Like US Military "Forts"...


Defence housing Authorities are residential areas for retired Army servicemen which they pay for through their entire service in instalments/funds that are deducted from their salary and the rest on retirement before they take ownership.

DHA etc are manager and run by FFG which are managed by retired army officers and soldiers.

Are Cantts the same as these Defense Housing "colonies"?

Its exactly as Desert Fighter says, Cantt's are military garrisons with semi residential area while Defense Housing Colonies are completely residential, but are not solely allotted to the military personnel as they have almost 90 civilian residents.

Military hospitals don't hire civilian doctors .. They do however offer house job to AMC (Army Med College) doctors.

Most of the milit doctors were not senior enough for the pmdc to allow teaching licence to cmh for both mbbs and fcps degrees. They had to induct a lot of civilian professors and other doctors to actually run the departments minus the management perks
