Why Pakistan keep going back to 19 century methods , even if you fence 1500km border and deploy forces there will be breaches
Possible solution is use tech , deploy long endurance uavs, deploy ballons which will give you endurance , cheap than keeping thousands of people
Construct smart checkposts smartly divide qrf deploy ucavs and make sure Afghanistan knowns beside border checkpoints everything is a no go zone

By the way can anybody tell me why a chartered accountant/Finance minister wannabe is dictating Pakistan's foreign policy? Oh right i forgot he happens to be Samdi ji of Nawaz the bafoon and since Pakistan is nothing more than an enterprise so anybody can deal with important issues. Who cares if he is qualified or not.
Exactly..when I read the thread title looked at the photo of this zombie Ishaq Dark, I was wondering WTH he is talking about? What has a finance minister to do with fencing on border...? either it should have come from a the foreign minister (which we don't have) or it should have come from interior minister or ISPR..

Regular fences won't do much. If they can, it should be an electric fence.

100% agreed, and it should be smart fence with multiple security layers, to make it extremely hard to cross over. Get China involved if any technical expertise is needed. It is 21st century we are living in, and no more free for all entry. And, every single entry and exit record needs to be logged electronically with photo images captured.

On behalf of India, fencing would not be in interest of Afghan govt.
First of all, Pakistan would not build it.
Second, if build, would be destroyed periodically with support of ANA and US forces

That is why fencing alone would not be enough. It should have multiple layers of security including monitoring by well armed troops and other electronic devices. Shoot anyone trying to cross over after giving loud warning.
