Stunning pictures. J-10 is a beautiful aircraft.

It is disappointing to see the JF-17 is not involved in this exercise. Either the execise profile is not right or the aircraft is undergoing some issues that preclude any inclusion in international exercises.

This does not make sense, there are 2 sqds of JF-17, 1 sqd is missing - gone awol along with the economy and the remaining 45 odd jets on not even on the subs benchm the PG has been sent instead!!!

We need to know what the status is with these jets, is it all freaking bs from the PAF or is there a logical understandable reason the PGs are flying and the JFTs are at home kicking their heels?

depends on the excercise profile - F7PG for AD & Mirages for night mission roles. only the most experienced pilots participate in international excercises.
JFT is a evolving platform and may not have the 'experienced' pilots. remember the JFT's will replace the Mirages and the Mirage pilots will eventually be certified on the JFT.
2 sqdns are fully operational with one acting as an OCU. 36 a/c have been designated to these 2 sqdns. the balance 13 a/c are based at Kamra and not designated to the 3rd sqdn which was certainly planned to be raised by end of LY.

Pakistan, China conclude joint air exercises

September 23rd, 2013 by Tahir Khan

The Pakistan Air Force contingent comprising combat Pilots and ground technical crew landed back at an operational Air Base in China on Monday after successful culmination of the joint Air Exercise “Shaheen-II”.

Earlier the closing ceremony was hosted by Lt Gen Zheng Qun Liang, Deputy Commander PLA Air Force. It was attended by Air Marshal Sohail Aman, Deputy Chief of Air Staff (Operations) and a team of high ranking PAF officials.

The exercise involved complex Air Operations for mutual learning as well as improving the coordination and interoperability of both Air Forces, the PAF said in a statement.

During the exercise, combat aircraft from PAF and PLAAF conducted joint operations to validate air warfare concepts in the contemporary operational and tactical environments. Experiences gained during the exercise would contribute towards enhancement of operational capabilities and inter-operability of both the Air Forces.

Shaheen-II commenced on 3rd September, 2013 with the deployment of PAF fighter aircraft and personnel in China.

It was for the first time in the history that a foreign Air Force conducted a joint exercise with PLAAF on Chinese soil and airspace. This in itself is reflective of the strong bond of friendship between China and Pakistan.

hope paf will release any video of the excercise
There is an article in the DEC edition of Combat Aircraft Monthly. The name of the article is Exercise Shaheen II (pages 80 & 81).

Don't know if I can upload it due to copy right infringements.

  • pretty sure that pg cannot go that low and with that angle. As far as I can judge the plane was higher and to the left of the picture. Just make a line between the bullets hitting soil and the plane... To do this the plane should have flown to the left not downwards.
