lack of information is a blessing as well, but in this age every tom dick and harry can become an expert and for a common man to distinguish is impossible.

I don’t agree with that. There are multiple steps one can take to verify the information.
1) the person presenting the information, what is their background.
2) checking multiple sources to verify the news.
3) instead of rushing to defence forums to get the likes by opening new thread, share the video in the existing thread and ask other members to verify.
4) We as a nation don’t like to be corrected, we don’t like to hear the other person point of view. This forum is a prime example, repeated information is shared. Wish lists are presented without asking the most basic question. If someone presents a different point of view, members become personal. All this can be corrected by our educational institutions if they themselves learn how to teach instead of their production line approach to schools/universities.
In my opinion when majority of Pakistani search for information on web, they don’t search for facts. They search for people who can back up their views and refuse to do basic investigation to verify the source.

It's not just Pakistanis. Most countries are suffering from this. 24/7 news and the news industry has destroyed the credibility of traditional journalism.

There was a time where a tabloid would be recognised as a mix of news and BS for the sake of entertainment, but now more and more the lines are being blurred and the Internet allowing any idiot a platform has make it really easy for fake news to be propagated.

The vast majority of people don't question sources - as long as the window dressing looks good.

20 years ago before social media and fake news networks us old school PDF'ians would always be suspicious of Indian sources, we knew journalists with anti Pakistan bias, we'd debate about the credibility of the sources people provided. Those habits were honed by anyone who went to uni and wrote papers or a thesis - you had to list your references and you had to make sure they were reliable.

As a 12 year old I was taught by my history teacher to consider primary and secondary sources when considering the authenticity of something.
