PAF ramping up Special Operation Capabilities

.
In the last few years we have had suffered some of our worst peace time loses. We to be extra vigilant in defending our bases
For base security, the concept of QRF( quick reaction force) is suitable rather than using SSW.
QRF was first used to provide VIP security for PA GOC's etc. Every convoy of GOC has usually minimum 2 QRF vehicles, similar to how Elite Force of Punjab Police provides security.Seeing QRF effectiveness, every impotant base area like command HQ, communication, research etc areas developed QRF forces.
These are highly mobile forces equipped with 4X4 like toyota hilux or Mitsubishi L200 etc with troops equipped with light weapons and trained to provide security. One officer is incharge who oversees their deployment and is responsible for security of the area.
In anti terror role, QRF is supposed to be the first force to respond to the scene and take out the intruders or contain them till SF arrives.

They can be seen deployed at Div/corps HQ,residences of GOC's, important checkpoints leading to cantonments.

Coming to SSW.
There are 6 known squadrons of SSW. Out of these 6, three(1st,2nd,3rd SOS) are taking part in anti-terror ops.
Fourth is dedicated VIP protection.
Fifth is training squadron.
6th which is the 10th SRF, is doing what actually SSW was envisioned to perform.

The 3rd SOS is actually based on Zarrar company, the ATU of SSG and PA.
Maybe the current scenario demands 1st SOS and 2nd SOS to take part in WOT.

I hope after Pakistan WOT ends, SSW dedicates attention towards the original duties and responsibilities which have led to its creation.

.
There are already different Anti-terror forces in pakistan.

SSW is useful to PAF if :

1. 4 X platoons are dedicated towards and trained to take out enemy S400 units by going behind eneny lines during war

2. 6 X platoons are dedicated towards and trained to take out enemy major airfields and disrupt enemy Air Comand ops during war.

3. 4 X platoons are dedicated and trained to take out enemy command and control HQ, AWACS, senior officers etc during war.

Sitting inside pakistan and performing base perimeter security is wastage of SSW during war.

And how are you planning on sending SSW behind enemy lines? Catapulting?

.
isn't parameter defence role dedicated to Military police?
Not really. MP has lots of different tasks ranging from directing convoys to regulating Army SOP's. It's not an easy job.
If you seen an MP standing on security gates that could be due to many reasons.

.
A good attempt to secure assets plus in war scenario to provide covert attack on enemies critical positions.

.
The basic flaw in all that I have seen is that almost all the operatives are based at one or two stations ....A formidable group of CT Teams should have an abode inside the facilities who should contact the enemy within the first 5 minutes ...or else it's just a waste of time, men and resources. Whenever the terrorists strike, then everyone wait for the SSG to be called in and airlifted and dropped in and blah blah ....

.
Why are Special Forces operators wearing pilot helmets?
Sir for HALO Jumps or High-altitude military parachuting (or military free fall (MFF), in which the Jumper does not Oxygen at high altitudes.

Future ISI assets probably
Not just future, SSG had been their asset since quite long.

We need Snipers with Good Guns and in large numbers also we should develop Sniper School just like Sri Lanka has done

Sir I had heard that PAF had commissioned some long range practice firing ranges. Must be for snipers training and practicing.

.
Dedicated air wing should be given to them with 4 C 130J and 1 AC 130
10 Helicopters atleast

we've already got SSG and SSGN on the anti-terror assignment. I don't get what new capabilities the Air force's version is going to bring to the WOT.

AC-130 is a must have IMO..nothing comes closer to this aircraft when it comes to CAS and COIN ops..

why maybe we'll build a base at moon and dispatch them from there...

agreed....we've suffered far too many losses that could've been mitigated (if not totally avoided) if a CT team had been close at hand..

What PAF waitting for AC 130 can be used for cover from air also

And how are you planning on sending SSW behind enemy lines?

SSW, depending on training and resources, may enter the area of operations in many ways.

They may stay behind, where the unit deliberately stays hidden in an area that is expected to be overrun by advancing enemy forces. They may infiltrate by foot, used when the enemy does not have full view of his own lines, such that skilled soldiers can move through their own front lines and, as a small unit, penetrate those of the enemy. Such movement is most often by night.

They may have mechanical help on the ground, such as tactical four-wheel-drive vehicles (e.g., dune buggies) or motorcycles.
US Army Special Forces units working with the Afghan NA rode horses, and there may be other pack or riding animals capabilities.

SSW units can move by air. They can use a variety of helicopter techniques, using fast disembarking by rope, ladder, or fast exit, at night. Alternatively, they can parachute typically by night, and using the HALO or HAHO jump technique so their airplane does not alert the enemy.

Appropriately trained and equipped SSW personnel can come by sea. They can use boats across inland water or from a surface ship or even a helicopter-launched boat. Another option is underwater movement, by swimming or delivery vehicle, from a submarine or an offshore surface ship. Some highly trained troops, such as US SEALs or or may parachute into open water, go underwater, and swim to the target.

Catapulting?
Bollywood style, yeah?

Does PAF has the means to deliver SSW deep behind enemy lines? You cant even compare US with PAK.
