SKARDU: Jet fighters of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) made flights near Siachen Glacier on Wednesday morning, Samaa reported.

According to PAF sources, all of its forward operating bases have been made fully operational.

Mirage jets of PAF are part of exercises since the forward base was made operational.

Chief of Air Staff Sohail Aman paid a visit to the forward airbase in Skardu on Wednesday. He was accompanied by top leadership of the Pakistan Air Force.

According to PAF, Aman met the pilots and technical staff of the fighting force. A fighter squadron carried out higher and lower altitude flights.

Air Chief Sohail Aman himself flew a Mirage jet on the occasion as well.

There is a very fine difference between flying over and near Siachen. Flying over gets you a SAM in the back and flying near lets you fly back and lets media misreport it for local consumption.

There is no SAM in the back. There wasn't one in Kargil when both the countries were actually in a limited war. Firing SAM means the war has started. Whether India or Pakistan, this time around, they both understand that the cost of war could be enough to take them both back to their pre-independence days. These jingoistic crappy statements only look good to appease voters through media. Outside of that, they have 0 relevance if you can understand the threat assessment on either side.

Wars don't get started over a single SAM attack. India downed your atlantique just after the war, Turkey downed Russian plane, Ukraine downed a passenger airliner...... nothing happened. There will be lot of chest thumping aggressive patrols, lot of LOC violations, suspended air traffic for few months and then back to normal. PAK or INDIA, no one has appetite for real war they just want to score points over another when opportunity presents itself. So yes there will be a SAM in the back if you fly OVER siachen and no war afterwards.

Says... Slim Shady . Obviously you ain't the real one. Argument closed. When no one dared to fire a SAM in the middle of a war, now that its been made clear that this would turn into a nuke war, there are no balls. Trust me. Also, stop telling me "we downed your xxx", I am not from Pakistan. Speaking the reality doesn't mean I changed my country.

The day you try to down "my airforce's jet / aka, the USAF jets", I am pretty sure we'll take out your entire SU-30 platform. Your radios will have screaming voices saying "we are hit by unknown, unidentifiable spacecrafts" (as known as the F-22's).

There could be.
The Army has very good AD assets up top and can be backed up by the IAF in very quick time if the situation so demands.
It was a chilly afternoon in August 1992 when Major Babar Ramzan, along with Major Khalid Sohail Sultan and Brigadier Masood Naveed got airborne in a helicopter from the highest elevation battlefield of Siachin area. They were carrying out reconnaissance on a Lama helicopter. The copter was hit by a missile fired by the Indian Army, killing all its occupants. Major Babr Ramzan and both the other officers embraced martyrdom and were awarded the Sitara-e-Jurat (Star of Courage), which is the third highest gallantry military award of Pakistan.

I never said you don't have one. I said there won't be one fired, unless both the countries want to go back to their pre-independence times. There were plenty of SAMS and AAM's during Kargil too. None was fired. Currently, its peacetime. Plus, there is a 10 mile rule on either side to warn the jets and not fire at either side's aircrafts.

Agreed.
The title is a total lie.

True that no Air to Air Missiles were fired but a lot of American Stingers were fired by the well entrenched Pakistani troops. Two Aircraft: A Mi17 and a MiG21 were lost to that.
Currently, its peacetime. Plus, there is a 10 mile rule on either side to warn the jets and not fire at either side's aircrafts.
Even with that, lots of airspace violations occur from both sides.

When relations are bad, one is more than enough
