The IL-76 is a medium-range military transport aircraft, and is also known by the Nato codename 'Candid'. The missions of the aircraft are: to drop paratroopers; carry troop forces and combat material with crews and armaments, including medium-sized battle tanks; to airlift cargo for troop forces and transport for disaster relief operations.

The IL-76 medium-range transport aircraft is produced by the Ilyushin Aviation Complex Joint Stock Company in Moscow and the Tashkent Aircraft Production Corporation in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Over 500 aircraft have been produced since service entry in 1974.

There are several design variants, including the basic IL-76, IL-76M, IL-76MD and the IL-76-MF. In terms of design, aerodynamic configuration and flight performance characteristics, the IL-76M version virtually resembles the IL-76 basic aircraft, but has a maximum payload of 47t, compared to 28t for the IL-76.

"The IL-76 is a medium-range military transport aircraft."The Indian Air Force (IAF) has ordered three Il-76MD aircraft fitted with the Phalcon AEW (airborne early warning) system produced by Elta of Israel. The first aircraft is due for delivery in September 2008. In April 2008, the IAF requested the purchase of a further three aircraft for delivery in 2011–2012. In August 2005, Jordan ordered two IL-76MF variants and in September 2005, China placed an order for up to 38 IL-76 transports.

In August 2007, the Russian Air Force revealed the Il-76MD-90, which has new Perm PS-90A76 engines and upgraded Leninets Kupol-76M avionics.

IL-76 design

The aircraft is of a conventional aerodynamic configuration with a high-set, swept-wing and T-shaped tail unit. The crew cabin, cargo hold and rear compartment are pressurised. The beam-type fuselage has an oval section over the crew cabin and circular section over the cargo hold. The wing leading and trailing edges are fitted with high-lift devices, comprising deflectable five-section leading-edge slats, triple-slotted trailing-edge extension flaps, ailerons, spoilers and air brakes.

Cargo handling

The air-drop and cargo handling equipment is intended to load, unload and air drop paratroopers, materiel and cargo, make the optimum arrangement of the cargo according to the logistical demands of the mission, and securely tie down the materiel and cargo.

The equipment comprises a telpher (an overhead cargo system where the cargo can be suspended from an electrically powered rail), a roller conveyer, mooring / rigging, auxiliary parachute and ambulance equipment.

The aircraft is equipped with a defensive aids suite, comprising a radar warner, jammer, infrared flare cartridges, chaff dispenser and two guns with a fire-control radar. Aerial bombs or radio beacons are suspended from external bomb racks on detachable pylons.

Avionics

The onboard equipment is intended to execute airlift and air drop missions by day and at night, in VFR and IFR (visual flight rules and instrument flight rules) weather conditions, as well as under hostile air defence conditions.

The integrated flight control and aiming-navigation system includes a compass system, ground surveillance radar, a central digital computer, automatic monitoring system, automatic flight control system, short-range radio navigation and landing system, IFF transponder, optical / infrared aiming sight and a ground collision warning system.

Engines

The IL-76M aircraft is powered by four D-30KP turbofan engines, mounted on underwing pylons and housed in individual pods secured on the engines.

Fuel is held in 12 integral tanks, which are isolated from each other. All fuel tanks are divided into four groups by the number of the engines. An inert gas system is used for protection against explosion.

IL-76MD variant
The IL-76MD variant has an increased flight range and service life. The powerplant and systems are identical to those of the IL-76M, and the structural changes have been made to its airframe only to accommodate the increased service life and increased take-off weight.

"The IL-76MD variant has an increased flight range and service life."When operating from first-category concrete runways, the aircraft's take-off weight has been increased from 170t for the IL-76M to 190t for the IL-76MD, mainly due to the increased fuel.

This enables a flight range increased by 40% with a maximum payload. The IL-76MD can be operated from unpaved runways in forward areas of operation.

IL-76MF variant
The IL-76MF aircraft is a derivative of the IL-76MD, with the fuselage lengthened by 6.6m. The new PS-90A-76 engines give a 25% higher take-off thrust (16,000kgf) than the D-30KP engines on the MD variant. The flight range is increased by over 20%, for example, the flight range with a 40t payload is 5,800km (compared to a range of 4,800km for the IL-76MD).

The Global Airtanker KDC-10 is a hose and drogue and centerline boom military in-flight refuelling aircraft developed by the Global Airtanker Service company. The aircraft can carry 112,037kg of fuel, and a 40,823kg to 45,360kg payload, or alternatively 156,490kg of fuel with an additional fuselage tank. The aircraft is also able to transport freight or passengers.

The US company Evergreen International Aviation and Omega Air, based in Dublin, have formed the joint company Global Airtanker Service LLC, based in Oregon. The company is carrying out modification and upgrade work on a commercially proven airliner, the DC-10 from Japan Airlines, to manufacture the KDC-10 which is equipped with hose and drogue and centreline boom refuelling systems. The modification work is being carried out at the Evergreen Air Center in Marana, Arizona, and will be completed by the summer of 2005. This will be followed by a schedule of flight trials. The aircraft will then be transferred to Patuxent River, Maryland, and to Edward's Air Force Base in California for flight trials with the United States Navy and with the United States Air Force. The aircraft will be ready for operational service in mid-2006.

Global Airtanker Service is arranging flexible lease options, including an hourly as-needed basis, to supply a military aerial refuelling service. The service covers the provision of the aircraft, flight crew, aircraft, systems maintenance and full logistics. The lease arrangements can include routine training missions, scheduled deployment, military exercises and contingency operations.

The DC-10's high fuel load could be boosted with additional tanks, with the main deck then available for either passengers or cargo. In addition, the cockpit will receive modifications to assist the military mission, with secure communications and IFF planned.

KDC-10 AIRCRAFT
Global Airtanker Service plans to modify up to 15 DC-10-40 aircraft which were previously owned and operated by Japan Air Lines and have been purchased by Global Airtanker.

The DC-10 series 40 is the extended range version of the DC-10. The aircraft is of cantilever low wing monoplane all-metal fail-safe design. It is powered by three JT9D-59A turbofan engines, each rated at 236kN, with two engines mounted on underwing pylons and one mounted at the base of the fin above the rear fuselage.

REFUELLING
The refuelling equipment suite contains developed, tested and operationally proven systems with high reliability and built in redundancy. The systems and best procedures incorporated into the tanker are based on over ten years of aerial refuelling development experience. Omega Air developed the Omega KC-707 which was the FAA's first certified civil tanker aircraft.

The KDC-10 tanker aircraft will be dual use with the capability to carry freight or passengers. The aircraft can carry 247,000lb of fuel for refuelling plus up to 100,000lb of freight or passenger payload. An alternative payload configuration includes an additional fuselage fuel tank which gives a maximum 345,000lb fuel payload.

The tanker is equipped with wing pods, centre line boom and centreline hose and drogue refuelling station (HDU) refuelling. All three stations give high fuel flow rates. Global Airtanker estimates that the fuel offload capability at a range of 1,500 nautical miles is 235,000lb fuel offload for the KDC10 with wing pods, HDU and optional tanks.

The two flight refuelling MK32-900 wing pods provide a fuel delivery rate of 400gal/min. The centerline FR300 HDU delivers 500gal/min. The centerline boom delivers 900gal/min. The centerline boom system is operated remotely with a fly-by-wire cabin camera system.

COCKPIT
The cockpit accommodates a crew of three plus seating for two observers or training crew.

The aircraft is equipped with UHF and secure satellite communications, a Tacan tactical air navigation aid which provides bearing and distance data from an interrogated ground based transponder, an Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) transponder and a Storm Scope weather mapping radar.

PASSENGER CONFIGURATION
The KDC-10 tanker aircraft is available in cargo and passenger configurations. The main deck can be fitted for 277 mixed class passenger seats in a twin aisle configuration (22 six-abreast first class passenger seats and 255 nine-abreast economy class passenger seats).

CARGO CONFIGURATION
In a tanker / cargo transporter configuration for civil or military cargo, the main deck can carry up to 29 standard 88in x 108in pallets, which is equivalent to 13,600ft³ (385m³) of palleted cargo. At ranges up to 3,900 miles the total operational payload of the KDC-10 is estimated at 156,000lb.

OPERATIONAL COST
The commercially run military refuelling service contrasts with conventional military tanker refuelling where the military tanker operations have very high hourly operating costs and correspondingly very low total annual flight hours, approximately 300 to 400 hours per year.

The Global Airtanker Service company has reported that the US Navy currently pays about $12,000 per flight hour for the Navy's own KC-10 tanker aircraft without including the amortised aircraft cost. Global Airtanker Service estimates that it will offer an offloaded fuel service cost at below $8.5 per gallon in comparison to the US Navy's current cost of approximately $17 per offloaded gallon.

The refuelling service provides cost effective training operations because pilots have to successfully complete refuelling operations every 90 days in order to retain capability.

First Understand what i am saying before posting anything. American want as same like we want US for (important things). So we must have to know how to ask (ASK means ASK) for any military weapon with US.

First understand our relationship with US and dont post things like what our leaders thing jab kuch karna hota hey tu apni limited sooch say nikal kar kuch asi cheez b soocha karo yani kuch out of limitation kay haan agar wesa karain tu kya khyaal hoga yani agar ham ye kahtay hain WE NEED APACHES AND COBRAS otherwise we will stop our military operation (America ka **** b dayga jo ham mangaingay) we need those people who use BRAIN and SMART brain.. kay kesay apni baat manwani hey! just like 1980zz

Trukey got 10 Billion dollars on the record for providing forward air base for logistics to united states during gulf war 2 or should i say for sole purpose of removing Saddam Hussein since they didn't find

Musharraf biggest mistake was he should have gotten a one shot 10 billion dollars to provide logistics support along with list of weapons Pakistan needed..or
Pakistan could have waived all her debt write off by us to fight war today we wouldn't be billion dollars in debt to us..
