Well your saracasm aside, this (and many such incidents) have happened. Only they are not reported in media with "chest pumping" captions.
Umair,
Not sure about 2001, but similar encounter did happened in Midlink'96 with USN F14s and F-6. Alan warnes has hinted the same incident in F-6 chapter of his book ' PAF 1998-2008: The new dawn'.
There are plenty of such successful dogfights memoirs from multinational exercises. Bandits sqn Mirages have shotdown US and Arab F-16s dozens of times, the result in one of their performances at an exercise literally busted some myths about Mirage performance in close air combat
Similarly 8 Sqn has maintained their name in successful low-level surface attack missions in similar exercises, one of such incident was put with oil paint on paper by Hussaini.
Such performances are kept by these units in their history, but honestly speaking these incidents didn't make them invincible. Every dogfight is different than any other, good tactics and human actions to perform under stress sometime yield exceptional results...and some times even a technologically advance aircraft ends up in gun sight of inferior adversary. That is why training never stops.

This is only exercise. 3nd generation aircrafts can only do dogfights either in war or exercise but 4 or 4.5 generation planes does not use in their full potential in exercise due to prevent to disclose their complex EW, datalink etc. In Red flag Exercise IAF does not use their Su-30 MKI data link & radar but Their MIG-21 beat their backbone fighter but in real war MIG-21 would be sitting duck for this fighter. In these kind of exercise Armed forces wants to gather information about other forces war tactics. So, nobody use their full potential of their war machine in these exercises.
Scoring a kill in exercises shouldn't be exaggerated, F6 kills on F14, F7 on f16, Bisons on F15, F15 on f22's, are possible in mock combats, with pre-defined engagement rules. In real combat the later aircrafts will eat the weaker ones all day long..... Gone are the days of sabre slayers...
I guess the F-6 fired on friendly fighters to get this kill....
Soon we will hear that PAF F-7 has beat F-22 Raptor...
Honestly, considering the current situation, I'd have thought the Indians would be the first ones to appoint women to such positions. Guess I was wrong.
What do you mean by this link ???
What current situation ??

Don't know about the results but they certainly did participate. !!

The rise of conservatism in Pakistan and liberalism in India.
What he probably meant was that currently the IAF have pathetic male pilots who mostly cant fly their planes properly, so the women in India should get a chance as they cant do any worse then their male counterparts.
Women have been serving in all the military forces for years . Still the military is reluctant to appoint women in direct combat roles.
of course, but considering the apparent social freedoms that women have in India more so than in Pakistan, I just thought that India would take this step first.
As you said they will be fighting inside the country but against the not so liberal enemies . So we have to take into account all factors before taking a decision on the matter .
