PAF employs air-to-air refuelling skill

yes, as far as my knowledge is concern they are still in service

I think There are couple of geographic locations for PAF to deploy their tankers.

First, lets go over brief description on depth of pakistan when confronting india. Pakistan has maximum depth of 400 miles from India, Sindh to balochistan and then Iran border. and roughly 300 miles from Punjab to NWFP and Afghanistan Border.

A fighter plane flying at Mach 2+ can cross from india to Afghanistan through Pakistan in 12 minutes. and in 15 minutes from Sind to Balochistan to Iran. Given that PAF can see into Indian aerospace for another 200 miles staying at a safe distance from the border, that gives PAF ample time to react to any oncoming threats.

True Pakistan doesnt have depth but assuming that fighter is ready to burn all his fuel and run across Pakistan, i will say Pakistan can safely deploy Tankers in three strategic locations, One near Mianwali, Dera Ismael Khan area. One in Sibi Area and ofcourse in arabean sea off karachi coast. That will give Pakistan around 400 miles of depth from within india to these locations. Ideally giving PAF ample time to scramble any fighters it need to protect its borders and resources.

It will take roughly 30 minutes for a fighter plane to reach these resources if he is hovering around Mach 1+ to reach its target. A lot of time for PAF to engage them

No one said the refueling was fake, however, the photo (only one) appeared in the media was definitely fake. Even these photos which you got from a video footage show a drogue being extended from the tanker, no contact with an aircraft is evident.

the photo may have been fake. frankly I dont know enough about PS jobs to tell one from the other.No one has doubted the capability being there.PAf would never announce a capability without having tested it successfully. As to the reasons for it, PAF might not have wanted people to know certain facts, like location of crafts , armaments etc .

Its not important whether photos were fake or real. We know that IL-78 tanker(s) have been acquired. The critical question is the report that IL-78 will be used only with Drogue-and-Hose system and may be that KC-135 will be required for F-16s.

Currently PAF's mainstay is F-16+Mirages and in the future JF-17 may join them as refuel-able fighters. F-16 uses the USAF system of flying boom whereas Mirages and JF-17 will be fitted with drogue and hose.

What we need is ONE, SINGLE tanker to refuel all fighters with both refuelling methods. It is illogical (unless you have no choice) to use separate tankers for separate fighters. Also it means wasting precious national resources.

More than 30 years ago, KC-10 was designed with both refuelling systems and thus was able to refuel both USAF and US Navy+US Marines fighters. Now we have A310 MRTT and A330 MRTT both capable of twin refuelling systems. KC-10 carries more fuel than KC-135 and is obviously more verstaile.

What PAF needs is to add flying boom capability to IL-78s so that F-16s are also made capable of in-flight refuelling. F-16s are front-line fighters and how can they be left without refuelling?

This is a fact that Indian Air Force would also have to consider if they want to buy F-16s as MMRCA. IAF does not have flying boom refuellers and it would have to either modify its tankers or buy new ones, which adds further complexity as compared to other fighters that employ drogue and hose systems.

none other than few mirages,jf-17 will have soon

All f-16's have but its a boom system,f-16's cant be refuel by il-78

air to air refuelling has been practiced by the pakistan airforce using an il-78 tanker and f-7 fighters.........!
