Oxford historian's 'Silk Roads' talks about 'age of Asia'

Simple you say? Can india come up with anything remotely close to the scale of obor?
India came up with
1. Vedic. Allows Indians to explain things without the need to use facts.
2. Demonization, an Indian invention to remove large currency and stimilate the economy going against all economic theories
3. PPP currency. Only in India

Sure china has to setup AIIB due to world bank is owned by US. You can use your imagination as to why not just make use of exisitng WB.

They have the funds to pull off mutually beneficial project, what is wrong with having spare cash?

Simple you say? Can india come up with anything remotely close to the scale and complexity of obor/new silk road?

There is nothing wrong in having excess case, yes, Chinese have worked day and night for the last 30 years to accumulate that cash. What is wrong is loosing all the cash, all the hard work, and time for a investment that is not worth the money in a blink.

Any way I am out of this thread, it is Chinese money, you are the better judges on how to use it.

Things don't go as you have put there in your post. Your assumptions are too optimistic. And rational investors don't invest based on optimistic assumptions but on the worst case scenarios. Forget returns, the first thing rational investors do is protect their original investment. The OBOR is against this fundamental principle of investment.

Tell your pessimism or just plain hate drum beating to the over 70 countries and counting participated.

Do u mean obor is against your personal so called investment prowess?

You want some, lose some first. If you cant wrap your head around it then that is why India is in its current state.

The old silk road already proven that it is all gains for everyone.

There are two ways to launching a fund...easy one and hard one. Easy one: If you have excess money, you are ready with a fund to invest. Or the harder way is convincing third party investors to pool their money into the fund, so that you can invest on their behalf. I guess China is taking the easy route.

China has about 27% of the 100% investment in the AIIB pool. The contribution is calculated based on a specific method that takes into consideration various indicators, including population, size of the GDP, etc. India is the second largest contributor.

As for foreign aid, you cannot compete with China in pragmatism and business-mindedness. Diplomacy is not composed of weird actions like Modi hugging people on the beach.

***

Seventy-nine percent of Chinese aid isn't aid at all: it's commercial loans that Beijing expects to be repaid with interest. Only about seven percent of US loans fit that definition, with the remaining 93 percent being "traditional aid" that isn't meant to be repaid, or repaid at rates far below market.

...
That's not to say China's foreign aid loans are exploitative: Parks says that most of the loans were "substantially" beneficial for the recipient nation.

Mark my word. OBOR is going to fail. Come back after 5 years and let us discuss why it failed. Except Chinese no one believes that OBOR has a good chance of succeeding.
based on Indian's track record``your deluded future bets are always in others favor````we will come back here after 5 years to laugh at funny indian's prediction as always````

Obor Will not fail, because a lot of countries don't have access to the sea and must depend on the land railroad.

Not to mention despite some countries have access to the sea, some regions are also isolated far from the sea access.

OBOR has the same function as building seaports actually. It's a lifeline of many countries.

If this project is not so prosperous in several years ahead because of several factors, but it will be huge at the end up to forever.

Stupid comments from PDF RSSers as usual.

Their priority is first to respond to their health crisis, which makes supa powa 2012 worse than many Sub-Sahara Africa countries.

They should forget about supa powa 2012 or supa powa 2102.
