Overseas Pakistanis’ remittances exceed $2bn for fourth month in row: PM Khan

This is nothing to be proud of when our exports should be atleast x5 our current level.

What I point out has been historically correct. What you are describing are merely the short terms steps. In the longer term, remittance do indeed have all those effects, and therefore they cannot be a substitute for actual exports to balance the books.
Well we definitely need to move away from remittances dependence for a whole lot of other reasons anyway. Gulf states are going through “Gulfanization process” and its becoming difficult gradually for expats. Similar trend is also seen in Western countries where immigration is becoming difficult as well due to far right movements. China wont ever be open to immigrants at a large scale, due to their own population. Plus our foreign policy aspirations are also diverging from our ”Brotherly” countries where large number of Pakistani expats are living - just see how embarrassed the PM was left for not attending a conference he had actually suggested himself!

The whole world is just beginning a titanic transition in utilizing energy resources, and some of the changes you describe are only one part of a whole cascade of changes that will affect just about everyone on the planet. What Pakistan may lose in remittances, it may gain by utilizing its domestic resources better.
