Parents at Birmingham primary school want to ban lessons on LGBT rights

Thoughts of UK residents would be much appreciated.

This is very difficult but I am caught between swords ~

• 1. Instinctively I don't like gays. If my son came home and said he had 'gay love' I would best not be pleased. So my personal feelings are against this being taught at schools.
• 2. Tolerance ~ I understand I live in UK and am a minority. I am of Pak extraction anb Muslim. I am well aware that many in the mainstream don't like me or my kind. Indeed some despise us. EDL is a extreme example of that but many more hold similiar if not as extreme views.

So where do I stand. Unfortunately I would have to go with the schools and it's right to teach LGBT rights. If I expect tolerance and diversity from the mainstream I can't very well then pick/choose or refuse to be tolerant to other minorities. This is the price I have to pay living in a liberal, tolerant, diverse friendly society. If this fundamental basis of society I live in is something I can't live with then I better buy a ticket to Pakistan or perhaps Turkey.

It's not just lessons on LGBQT that people are protesting. The protest is about a big change to how relationship and sex education is delivered in the UK.

Currently - it is mandatory for all children to recieve the basic biological information about human reproduction at an appropriate age (typically 11-12). Children can also recieve information about sexuality, contraception, relationships etc, but that is done at an older age (15-16) and is optional, giving the parents rights to opt their children out of these lessons.

Recently the homosexual lobby has started pushing hard to have their behaviours "normalised" in society. A part of this push is to have the legislation around sex education changed to have the second portion of it as mandatory and to have parts of it delivered at a much earlier age.

Obviously we all know they can't, but now there is a campaign to tell our children that gender is fluid and an identity and not hard linked to what organs you have or dont have. It is all biologically false, and utterly ridiculous.

You see as a parent myself, i expect my children to be taught to tolerate others, including people of different sexual persuasions, but i think the current legislation is being pushed by a political lobby.

This is primary schools we are talking about.

I mean is it such a big issue that this thing should be taught this early in the schools. I mean bullying is a separate thing, you can cope with it differently. For that you don't need specific education in favor of LGBT.

It is good for children to be inclusive(be a member of the society you live in),learning about LGBT doesnt make you gay or lesbian( fear of many Muslim parents) because of the exclusive communities( ''getto's'') all over Europe,there is already a ''paralel society'' situation which has led to many trouble(terrorist cells,acts,sharia like laws in some neigborhoods etc) all over Europe.
If children grow up tolerant,not only the society will benefit.

Wth man,im tolerant to all my wives,they rule the kitchen.
They may ''air'' drive a car,no black burqa's(all other colours allowed) etc.

Children need to understand differences in people so they are tolerant when they grow up. They don't just suddenly become gay. Number of factors involved. Tolerance is important and children need to given deep understanding how people are different so they don't judge when they grow up.

This is idiocy of radicalized undesirables living in birmingham who should all be shipped out, no place for these types in Britain.

Well in my opinion, Islamophobia is much rampant in the west than homophobia. I haven't a seen a mass murdering gunman on LGBT gathering or rally.. But what can I say, it's ok to demean a Burqa wearing woman or a thick bearded man but if you oppose LGBT lessons in PRIMARY schools, you are homophobic then. No one is arguing about rights of LGBT's. People are only protesting against mandatory LGBT lesson in primary schools, when the same could be taught at a much later stage.
