Current LOC is not feasible as a border. See the unrest in kashmir. The only solution for india is to cede some territory. Handing over muslim majority areas of IOJK will solve the issue. This way there wont be any majority muslim areas in india to create unrest, Pakistan can sell it to its people and so can india.

It is not sustainable for humans to create countries only on religious grounds. Religion is an opium of the masses. What happened in 1947 will not happen again.

I agree. The only solution is to take territory like the Chinese did. Everything else is talk.

Modi can twist anything anyway and people will accept. How is ceding territory bad for a large country like india if it assures stability and peace?

So in your solution we lose more territory, not to mention the independent part will be under Pakistan influence for sure if it doesn't end up merging, sorry but not possible.
The only solution possible is turning LOC into international border and even then many Indians would think being the stronger power why we gave up the claim.

In my solution we go for peace so in your solution the people in jammu and kashmir will be supporters of pakistan but living in occupied land as you suggest independent kashmir will be pro pakistan or merge with pakistan .stay ready for more pulwamas in the future. Israeli occupation has not given israel any security and israel is always on edge so india will be the same in the future.no peace . In a recent survey carried out by ngo most indians would prefer kashmir solved even if kashmir was granted independence to the current situation by a majority of 78 % so it would not be suicide for a political party .this argument of political suicide is a bogey monster that hawkish indians use lol

We only discuss P. O. K in our kashmir dispute, the territory we currently administer is non negotiable.

Eventually as more locals marry wealthy mainland indians and many mainlanders buy lands and set up industries creating jobs their perspective will change, we just need to play the waiting game.

Even among the valley locals, those invested in trade and tourism desire peace. Only jobless folks indulge in stone throwing. Lets try recruiting some of them in Kashmir police. Their energies will be better used there.

I have seen guys from Kashmir slowly going to other cities now, in my organisation itself I see a few faces now from Kashmir. If govt does a sincere job, and politicians stop giving stupid dialogues, 10 years from now, things might be much better. It's also the responsibility for the kashmiri youths to grab any opportunity that comes their way - can't be stupid all their life. Slowly we should remove all these troops from the state, a police state can't breed democracy and peace.

You are right. I also think it is time to give statehood back to J&K. It is too big a region to be governed as a Union Territory. Let Farooq / Mufti or whoever become CM. Kashmiris should feel invested in governing their state.

People in the valley are pro pakistan you say its 65 % of the population at the minimum the valley never goes 35 % in any state election those 65 %are pro pakistani and are not a small number.people are not marrying outside the state and if they do they dont leave the state .the muslims in kargil and pir panjal and chenab valley are not pro india and will side with valley in any referendum.peace for jammu and kashmir will be an out of the box solution so suggesting development and loc permanant borders will not achieve peace in 20 years.the longer the state stays a union territory the more future freedom fighters will be made .a child of 5 to 10 years old now are the future so the more they see their land occupied and no freedom will automatically turn them into future freedom leaders .

Ultimately freedom is in the hands of the people of Kashmir. They can choose the path of the Palestinians, trusting foreign governments and political messages all whilst the enemy take thier land and resettle foreigners onto it, or they can take the path of the Afghan Taliban who destroyed themselves and anyone around them to ensure the enemy could not settle in thier lands.

Pakistani armies might eventually push India out of Kashmir, but not until Kashmiri blood drowns the enemy. This is time for all those who call themselves Kashmiri to act.

J&K was peaceful till 1980s. Post that militants pushed and aided from across the border coupled with Indian govt missteps vitiated the atmosphere.
Real solution lies in stopping the push and aid for militants and govt initiating education and job programs for Kashmiri youth.
