Musharraf was deeply unpopular, and political parties were united (somewhat) and in the ascendency.

The incoming COAS was more reconciliatory and laid back in his approach, and more astute rather than the brazen approach we are seeing now.

Yes but remember the damage iftikhar ch did to PPP was far more. He disqualified a sitting PM Gillani he did countless other things to support N league.
