After Matriculation when i spent most of time in Library reading Muslim History ...I envisage myself in those times :smitten:
Although its stupid to say it here....I actually want to be part of some Historic Events that took place in past like Crusade wars and Conquest of Constantiople or dying while fighting in the losing battle of Mysore ..... but that was Past with some unforgettable memories

Hi,

Thank you for the wonderful pictures---are the members of the Sultan's family alive!
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/24/nyregion/24osman.html?_r=0

These are the youngest children of the Ottoman family:

To be honest, the Ottomans are dead. These children and their descendants aren't accepted by Turks as "real" Ottomans. Are they even Muslims? UK-born Gülnev was naturalized 2008 in Turkey.

Habib Abdoerrachman Al-Zahir, a Turkish cleric, travelled to Turkey to gather support for Aceh from the Ottoman Empire, the chief Muslim state at the time; to Singapore where he met United States consul; and to Penang where he promised the British the island of Sabang if they would help Aceh against the Dutch.

Failing in his efforts, Habib Abdoerrachman surrendered to the Dutch at Koetaradja on July 1878, secured an annual subsidy of $500 from the Dutch government, then sailed back to Istanbul where he died in 1902.

The Generosity of Sultan Abdülmecid I:

"Over a thousand children were cared for daily, tended by the Sultan's doctors, and fed by the Sultan's cooks, who presided over the enormous fires on which cauldrons of pilav (rice) were kept boiling day and night and sheep roasted whole on giant spits. Every evening after sundown, the Sultan himself would visit the children's tent, presenting each child who had been operated on during the day with a new suit of clothes, and a hundred gold pieces. It was by gestures such as these that Sultan Abdülmecid I won the love of his subjects and the title of the "Gentlest of Monarchs".

Habib Abdoe'r Rahman Alzahier Arabic: حبيب عبد الرحمن بن الظاهر‎‎ Ḥabīb 'ʿAbd ar-Raḥmān bin aẓ-ẓāhir (b. Hadramaut, 1832 - ?) was an Arab who played a major role in the Aceh War.

Ok, maybe he is an Arab but serves as an Ottoman official since Arab is under Ottoman Empire, I dont know which source is more accurate.
