We are posting the results of a year-long study, conducted to determine the social media dynamics of the PTM. The data is harvested using highly sophisticated data mining technologies while using key PTM figures as nodes of communications.
Everyone is free to draw their own conclusions, we have belled the cat.
- We hope this data helps you understand the sheer sophistication of the information warfare machine working to support PTM not just in Pakistan but across the world. Our findings suggest that the traffic we mapped is not genuine but the result of techniques used by Cambridge Analyta (Whatever name it is using these days) or other companies engaged in digital propaganda.
- We have also performed sentiment analysis, traffic analysis, social media network analysis, occupation, affinity, behavioral traits, and communication mapping.
- The root source of the data is PTM twitter accounts, so the data we had to work with is absolutely authentic.
- We are publishing this information only to inform our readers and members about what's really happening with PTM and their social media campaigns.
- It is clear that in addition to VOA, BBC, RFL, and other state-owned western media outlets, the backers of PTM are providing them with sophisticated propaganda instruments to appear bigger and shout louder than they actually are. We also established that PTM's social media campaigns are being orchestrated from outside Pakistan's borders.
- In-degree Network
- We detected the sub-communities within the network and they have been color-coded according to their type. This is an indicator of social ties online. Indegree is a count of the number of ties directed to the node. Ties are the relations which are indicated by the lines. Node is the id of the person. You can see a cluster of names within the graph which are close to each other. The closer they are, the more ties they have with each other. It may not be necessary for him to be directly associated with some of the nodes. There have been several views of his in-degree network which have been filtered according to strength. The maps with more nodes are weak while the rest consists of the strongest ones.
- The degree of a node is the number of relation (edge) it has, independently if it’s an in or an out relation. It’s the sum of edges for a node. This is a directed graph. « In » count only incoming edges and « Out » count only outgoing edges. The following are only in degree and degree. The indegree measure identifies users who get lots of attention by interacting with their audience one-to-one.
- Community Detection
- Community detection is an algorithm which detects which of the people are in cliques on social media. The nodes of the network are in sets of nodes according to their color. The algorithm has placed them together in the matter of likeness. For e.g, the blue nodes are all either media, politicians, activists or anchors. Nodes of each color are associated with each other and the bigger the size, the stronger those nodes are. If you can see, you will all the big names in black. The bigger the node the more association it has with other nodes. The smaller the node, the less power it has but still wields some influence.
