The problem is that no one will believe it. Even the SEALS accounts are contradictory about what actually happened.

Ironically, by denying him a trial, as is accorded to the worst war criminals, the US has done precisely what they wanted to avoid: create conspiracies about what info did the US not want coming out in the glare of a public trial?

The dynamic hasn't changed. The people who thought he was a monster will believe anything the US says, without proof. Those who think he was a hero/martyr will continue to doubt anything the US says. I believe this whole OBL drama got way too much attention than it deserved.

They could have simply captured him in secret, and work with him against the AQ network over time. What is clear was that he was avoiding the activities of the AQ by leading a (surprisingly) comfortable life in Pakistan. He even told his children not to join the AQ network (about which he was 100% correct).

There now far more extreme people than OBL, like Zawahiri (now leading AQ) and his ilk. And yes, they are still a formidable threat.

The question is: Did the killing of OBL change the dynamics of the unholy process at work? The answer is likely to be no.

Perhaps for Obama, gaining more votes coupled with satisfying American patriotism and nationalism was more important. They were indeed very vindictive.
