Orions not to be replaced anytime soon: Public Accounts Committee

I was reading the today's new paper and there was this news that the US is going to provide p3c orions on time as per EDA.

.
Pakistan has halt all intelligence sharing, how is it US would provide Orions used by PN for critical intelligence gathering.

Dont know. Just quoted the news from the news paper.

Some news papers quoted that US will replace with alternative aircraft not P3C. what could be these alternatives....
surely they don't provide P-8 series. what could be the alternative aircraft for P3C

They themselves still dont have P-8 inducted, how do you expect them to offer it to Pakistan

Jang specifically mentioned orions. Some other alternative simply doesnt make sense because you cant just induct any plane without the proper infrastructure to support it and we wont develop infrastructure for merely 2 planes.

. . .
An enormous loss, however, it is not the end of the world. There are a number of possible alternatives.
Breguet Atlantic - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hawker Siddeley Nimrod - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Among others............
Atlantic: old airframe, no longer in production, (in process of being) phased out by users.
Nimrod: very old airframe, no longer in production, last active MR2 units retired by RN in May 2010 and the last flight of the R! type was on 28 June 2011.

.
i think we are getting one nimrod
..otherwise you are right there are no other options..
Pakistan has about 5 operational p3s and were expected to get 2 more according to original deal..its possible that we may get those..but not the replacement for the destroyed ones yet

.
It all depends upon where the sabre ratlling from both side lead to. If things settle down than the replacemnt of Orions is a reality. If not than we need to look elsewhere or for the time being settle down with the 7 P3C's.

.
to me it seems that 5 (7 later perhaps) of the Orion aircrafts should suffice for now.....we shouldnt bother asking for more. It's a silly request to make at this current juncture.

.
We are out of cash .. plain and simple.
The orions are still the best MPA available bar the P-8.
Perhaps if in the future some options open up, the CN-235 can be looked at as an MPA.
to provide close to shore surveillance.

.
two more orions are expected to come soon(they are the originally planned one)..
pakistan got a few fokkers from PIA when they urgently retired them.

.
i dont have great trust in US promise but still here is a conflicting news.
the P-3C Orion replacement seem to be on track as per this report:

Alternatives to PC3 Orion to be delivered soon
Published: August 11, 2011

WASHINGTON (Online) - The US Defence Department has said negotiations are on to deliver PC3 Orion to Pakistan.
A Pentagon spokesman said the US provided the defence equipment to Pakistan under the EDA programme.
He said the US would soon deliver alternatives to the PC3 Orion aircraft, destroyed in a terrorists attack at PNS Mehran in May.
Earlier, Defence Secretary Lt General Shahid Iqbal had told public accounts committee that due to strain in Pakistan-US ties, the US was reluctant to deliver the PC3 Orion to Pakistan.

regards!
