The Russians have total air superiority and overwhelming artillery superiority. I heard, if I remember the figure correctly, that the Russians are firing 70,000 shells per day. The Ukrainian figure is infinitesimly smaller. Exactly how are these 'massive' casualties being inflicted?

The Ukrainians know what they are asking for with weaponry to keep fighting instead of surrendering even at the cost of civilian lives. Ukraine are in a position to take on the Russians militarily with western support, that's for sure. They just keep killing the Russians until they can't handle it anymore. Russian troops in occupied areas makes it easier to target them since they are in static defense which means being hit by artillery, mortars, snipers, drones, loitering munitions, etc.

If that had been a cake walk, they would have been able to completed the war in the first 10-20 days, when the US and NATO only ever supplied the Ukrainian with Javelin and NLAW and stuff like that.

In fact the inaction from NATO for the first 5 days (4 and a half to be exact) is simply toward the fact that they think Ukraine is going to fold and there are no point in helping them. But then 120 days later, the war is still going on.

What's more. this war is still in invasion stage, not even reached occupation state. That is when Russia really need to put resource into, they need roughly 4 times the number of troop to occupy the land they already had taken, and they need tons of supply to get them occupation force supported. That is a even more massive undertaking than what they are doing now. Unless for whatever reason Ukraine decided not to raise an insurgency on Russian occupied land even after they die fighting them in the last 120 days. If you think the progress is slow now, wait until IED started to appear on the road behind enemy line.......
