[Opinion] Imran Khan has emerged as a capable leader and Pakistan is extremely lucky to have him

Musharaf era was atleast better than the two eras that succeeded him because they were just so bad.. Shah Mahmood Qureshi could actully do great job. I lean towards meritocracy in this case and Pakistan is in need of that meritocracy
Is Shah Qureshi on your payroll? If not I wonder whose and why the sudden vote for Qureshi gang has sprung up.

All criticism aside, Imran Khan should be supported just because he tells the US to f*ck off.

I have not gone through the thread. But here is my reason for supporting IK.

1. Personally he is not corrupt. Yes politicians, bureaucracy, members of his team might be corrupt. But they can not do corruption openly now. There is no one in PM house distributing contracts with pre determined commissions.

2. He is at leas trying to address Pakistan's biggest and decades old problem of debt. He at least ahs the brains to think about it, try to work on it. It might not be working very well yet. But remember we are also going through covid. He brought USD on its actual rate which is very good step. Now the imports are expensive and local production is cheaper. Before due to cheaper dollars, even Bata sandals were being made in China and just retailed here. 0 local production. Our local industry got killed due to difficult taxes, in his tenure foreign investment is flourishing. Just observe the number of new car brands coming to Pakistan. Auto policy may have disturbed the used import car market (easy work/less money circulation) but local production will have much higher benefits in the long run.

3. External debt - here is a break down of Imran Khan government's foreign borrowing:
-Total loan taken = 46 Billion USD
-Debt payments made (Principal amount) = 27 Billion USD - 58.6% used to repay previous loans
-Debt payments made (Interest amount) = 6.5 Billion USD - 14.1% used to repay interest on previous loans

Total spending on debt servicing (Principal + Interest = 33.5 Billion USD - 72.7% overall spent on debt servicing of previous governments loans
-Additional money added to USD reserves of Pakistan to meet 3 month minimum expenses = 7.5 Billion USD - 16.3 %
(PMLN completely drained all accounts before handing over the government. They fudged numbers frequently, overstated figures. Pakistan now has a minimum of 3 months payments for fuel & services, we did not even have that before)
-Total debt used by this government = 5 Billion USD. - 10.8%, so out of all the ballooning external debt which Imran Khan is accused of. Only 10% is his own addition. Rest 90% of it is in repayments and fixing previous mess.

Not to forget we got some good covid handling and cash relief payments distributed to masses in this time too.

4. He has brains to talk about tree plantation, global warming, wild life preservation, promoting tourism in Pakistan.

5. Health insurances country wide is a great initiative. Which would have great impact on the poor and middle classes.

6. Strong foreign policy, Pakistan first. No buckling down. Raised awareness about insulting our Prophet (P.B.U.H.) in the name of freedom of speech. Highlighted Kashmir issue. Showed generosity by opening Kartarpur boarder. Gave peace and talks a chance. Offered India to settle disputes and engage in talks. He has a vision for the region. He is beyond petty politics. He is a nation builder.

7. Education reforms and single curriculum country wide is a great step. He is the only politician who talks about madrassa kids. He wants them to have conventional education too. He wants them to not become radicalised, should be able to have religious knowledge and yet be successful members of the society. No one talked about madrassa kids before as if they weren't one of us. Again, vision, understanding, not avoiding looking into problems. He is a leader who can face all issues.

8. A lot of work has been done to fix Pakistan's circular debt issue arising from electricity problems. We have renegotiated extremely poorly done contracts for IPP power generation plants. Transmission lines are being upgraded. Dams are being built which would address water shortage and help in power generation. Load shedding is gone already.

9. Several large projects in Karachi which needed it the most. PPP is destroying Sindh and Karachi. Now we can finally see somethings planned and initiated to improve Karachi's infrastructure. Drainage cleaning and upgradation, clean water supply, roads, train & busses etc. Much needed investment for such a large city.

After 3 years in office he emerges as one of the best leaders imo since the 80s. A strong nation needs a strong leader and Imran Khan is the man for the job, We need to bring other similar characters thru the ranks but we most seriously be careful who comes thru the ranks. If Imran serves two terms I would like to see Shah Mahmood Qureshi replace him his at the Imran Khan caliber what we absolutely don't need in this country is tabloid and news paper sellers coming to power

He is the worst prime minister in the history of Paksitan, even after 20 years of preparation he was not ready for power. Let’s compare his reign to other leaders

Shabaz sharif transformed Lahore
Mustafa kamal transformed karachi
nawaz sharif had more business sense than earlier leaders unfortunately he was completely oblivious to strategic needs of the country
Benazir was focused on vocational training for Pakistanis so we could have massive trained workforce to help move Pakistan forward.

what is PTI’s plan……Except for fake promises. The army even gave him experts but the dumbest persons refused to follow good advise

He is without a doubt the greatest leader Pakistan has ever had..Definitely popular amongst western nations and possibly in the gulf too.
He deserves to to get Noble price
Since been in power only 3yrs ago face a shattered country :

He resolved the Afghanistan issue with American s departing
Election machines EVM
Spoke against India and Israel
OIC meeting
Economic getting better
Always spoken against corruption
Always spoke reuniting different people
Karhtarpur for the Sikhs
Digital roshan
Planting trees
Introducing in Tourism
And many more projects are launched during his Vision Naya Pakistan.

how many times has PPP AND PMLN has been in power ?

compare that to just 3 yrs of Imran Khan government.

When he went Saudi Arabia he arrived barefoot as a respect for the land of Prophet SWA (peace be upon him).

Tell me which Pakistani prime minister has done that in the past.
He is trying to change us for the good and we need to change ourselves.

Pakistan zindabad

Shabaz sharif transformed Lahore - He did not. PMLN was in power in Punjab since 30 yrs. Except a few flyovers in Lahore for commissions they did nothing for Punjab. South punjab is in very poor condition. These 2 brothers only added to Pakistan's debt while not addressing its real issues.
Mustafa kamal transformed karachi - tell me about it.
nawaz sharif had more business sense than earlier leaders unfortunately he was completely oblivious to strategic needs of the country - business sense.. Tell me about it. How much foreign investment did he get in his several yrs?
Benazir was focused on vocational training for Pakistanis so we could have massive trained workforce to help move Pakistan forward. - all PPP has is sympathy votes from Bhutto, nothing much else.

what is PTI’s plan……Except for fake promises. The army even gave him experts but the dumbest persons refused to follow good advise. - Dumb is someone who complains but has no capacity to

All what one needs is eyes and brains to process things. Those who have it. Can understand and see. IK deserves another tenure.

Yes… eye, , brains but no stomach as eating food is a luxury in paksitan while the sugar mills of his buddy Tareen are given subsidies. This dude is all noise no substance

That is a pitiful list of achievements, especially the parts in bold - which are either not his achievements or not much to talk about. Quite honestly, even though he's been marginally better in some areas compared to others before him, he's been marginally worse in other areas. If we told a PTI supporter in 2017 that this is all that their man would achieve 3.5 years into office, they'd not believe it.

This is the truth of Imran khan and his disastrous goverment please refute these claims

Ask the ppl living in Pakistan. Especially lower and middle class ppl. In the end, people dont care how he looks or how well he talks at UN or elsewhere, what matters is the economic situation on ground. In his govt the prices of basic stuff been going up and up, not a single good policy, not a single corrupt caught. Not a single dollar of the billions looted have been recovered. Same old corrupt politicians and same old corrupt bureaucrats and stinky stupid same old policies. Only some dumb fanboys sitting abroad are jumping because they r not facing what ppl of Pakistan are actually facing.

sad but true

pakistan is a failed state and whats even scarier is that we might have a Bilawal & Zardari govt next and that was really bad.

whatever people say - Nawaz sharif term in 2013-2017 was the best since Musharaff because there was a roadmap and you could see light at the end of a tunnel. I’v excluded 2018 because Pasha sb did not let Nawaz govern and instead put IK on the roads to do dharne. If Pasha had not messed around, Nawaz would have won a second term and carried on with his plan. Yes there was corruption in that govt too but they were making progress too.
I doubt. Pakistan can only be saved by a strong and ruthless autocratic setup. This sham democracy wouldn't do.

what good has the army done us in the last 60+ Years. They are equally responsible for the mess we are in

But his economic plan and results were disastrous, you'd have to agree?

The exports were down to $20 bn and decreasing annually with no incentive to produce anything in house...with the excessive borrowing we went on a consumption binge, this grew the GDP but on credit...No different to any household building a mansion on credit/mortgage and also acquiring luxury cars on credit, though appearing to be affluent and of means is in a more perilous financial situation than someone in a modest home with normal cars which are paid for.

There was no road map for substantive economic growth under NS...

Correct me if I'm wrong here...

Where is Tareen? Not in party anymore. He accepted all judicial orders despite the fact that many believe Tareen's disqualification was a balancing act. Many of his political workers who were handed or just or fair verdicts of disqualification are not in his party anymore. This is unprecedented, in previous governments people used to exit courts waving victory signs. Hunger index of Pakistan is lower than India. Nobody is dying of food shortage. Many charities giving out free food round the clock. There is a problem of mafias artificially creating shortages and global inflation. Cheeni Aata sasta o? Mulk bhalay qarzay men duba o? The only country in the world where 1 person earns and 8 others eat at home. And then they complain about prices of sugar. Maybe nation needs to work instead of complaining. Everyone doing 2-3 jobs to survive in the world. But our nation demands subsidies. Lol.... national retardedness..

Societies don't change that easily; individual can.

Individuals collectively make up a society, and Pakistani society has been one of the most divided and ignorant in intellect of faith, to date. Especially considering that Pakistan is of two countries on the entire planet, that were created on the basis of religion.
