The simulation is fantastic but they missed one crucial detail.
At the time of the actual incident, the PAF also used diversion.
There were two jets. One was being tracked and targeted and the other one got through.

He was going off of what he found on the internet but still did a great job, the way he dodged those missiles was awesome.

I don't know if DCS has CM400AKG on JF-17?
But if instead of Exocet he used that missile, the results could be different.

A note about the video: That many missiles will not miss no matter how close to the water you fly or what kind of SPJ you have. At such close ranges the ships' radars are more than powerful enough to burn through any jamming.

A note about the exercise: One of the purposes of exercises like these is to find holes and plug them. PAF successfully demonstrated holes in the carrier group's defenses which must have been fixed promptly. Rest assured, this will not be possible today. This is why we exercise with allies. Exercises with enemies are called conflicts lol (eg Swift Retort).

That's assuming the ship radar is at 20 metes height from sea , because before 20km the aircraft will be hidden behind earth's curvature.

And also he lost his wingman pretty early in the fight, if he was able to survive a little longer results might have been different.

1. I'll admit I dont understand the underlying calculations of the radar horizon but even the visual horizon is 27 km for the conditions you gave.

2. I think it is SUPER hard for an aircraft to fly at 10 m over seas especially depending on sea state. I think a more reasonable altitude is 40 m, which will result in a visual horizon of 39 km. A pilot who has flown mirages over the sea can better answer what altitude they can fly at over seas. @airomerix any idea?
3. Ships have over the horizon radars for early warning (albeit not targeting radars) so they can see where you are in general much further out even if you're flying low.
4. Aircraft patrols will see and target you muuuch further out than 40 km. Maybe the dated seeker of the AIM54 on the F14s was getting lost in the clutter from the ocean but I doubt modern missiles like the AIM120D will miss so often when launched from patrolling super hornets.
