WASHINGTON: As President Barack Obama prepares to make a major address on the tumultuous changes spreading throughout the Middle East, a new survey finds that America’s image in Arab and Muslim nations has further eroded.

The survey, conducted before Osama bin Laden’s killing, shows that only 11 per cent people in Pakistan view the United States and President Barack Obama favourably, compared to 17 per cent last year and 16 per cent in 2009.

Views of the US remain negative in other Muslim and Arab nations as well, as they have been for nearly a decade. In Jordan and Turkey also views are more negative than they were one year ago.

With the exception of Indonesia, President Obama remains unpopular in the Muslim nations polled, and most disapprove of the way he has handled calls for political change roiling the Middle East.

The survey – conducted between March 21 and April 26 – notes that many of the concerns that have driven animosity towards the US in recent years are still present – a perception that the US acts unilaterally, opposition to the war on terror and fears of America as a military threat.

Washington’s Pew Research Centre, which conducted the survey, reports that as many as 78 per cent people in Pakistan say laws should be based strictly on religion.

Nice, only 18 percent of the Chinese people like US as well.

Glad to see that the Uncle Sam is extremely unpopular among the people from China and Pakistan.

:china::pakistan: :sniper: :usflag:

i dont even think its 11 i think they put that 1 by mistake it should be 1%

It may become 0.11 percent in the near future. :victory:

But i suggest the Pak government should still pretend to be its ally, and ask them for more financial support. :azn:

Those bastards should pay for what they have haunted Pakistan for so long with their so-called WOT. Since there is no free service in the World.

mad people are kept in mental hospitals because their thoughts are always opposite to what normal people thinks.lol

US aid keeps despots like zardari in power.
US self obessed policies for its hegemony and control of central asian energy reserves have bought violent terrorist attacks into Pakistan neighbourhoods.

How can average Pakistani love them when he might be blown any seconds by a sucide bomber formulated as byproduct of US greater hegemony policies?

Your logical flaw is that you assume all of Central Asia and the ME would be just a big happy playground full of peace, love, and joy, if only the annoying U.S. of A. would go away.

But the same social dynamics that cause misery today existed long before the U.S. was even a country.

It's a lot easier to blame the U.S. than it is to take a good, hard, look in the mirror at one's own governmental, national, and military policies.

And frankly, being "liked" should never be high on a nation's list of aspirations and goals.

You can't blame Pakistani for not "liking" US, it wasn't always like this relations were better, during the Pres. Clinton Presidency AFAIK US's approval rating in Pakistan was a majority favorable rating. Pres. Bush and Pres. Obama have really exacerbated ties with Pakistan, of course it's more complicated then that but at the general level...

In general, US's approval rating is down throughout the world, in European countries like UK, France, Germany, NL, and Scandinavian countries. In Asian countries as well, so this is not an isolated event or trend it's global trend...
