terrorist killed five arrested karachi

KARACHI: A terrorist was killed and five others including a foreigner were taken into custody after an exchange of fire with the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) team in Karachi in the wee hours of Monday, ARY News reported.
According to DIG CTD Umar Shahid, the personnel raided a house in Shah Latif Town area of Karachi.

An exchange of fire took place between terrorists and CTD, as a result, one of the terrorists was killed and five others were taken into custody including a foreigner.

The CTD personnel recovered explosive material, suicide jackets, and a rickshaw laden with explosive material from the arrested terrorist. The bomb disposal squad defused the rickshaw.
Four suicide jackets, 15 hand grenades, four Kalashnikov, two rocket launchers, hundreds of bullets were recovered from the custody of the arrested.

He further said that the identity of the arrested terrorists is not yet known and have been shifted to an unknown place for an investigation into the matter.

It is to be mentioned here that the security was put on high-alert in Karachi in view of possible terrorist attack following a threat alert issued by the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA).

Last week, the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) warned that a vehicle has been prepared to carry out an attack against an unspecified or high-profile building in Karachi in near future.

Main thing of concern is how can so much weapons and ammunition's get into a financial hub of Pakistan without anyone noticing? Its a good thing that CTD managed to arrest them however the facilitators who make this happen, need to be identified and taken out of their misery including any officials of Sindh where corruption is rampant thanks to Bhutto Zinda ha abbi tak.

Officials of the Counter-Terrorism Department of the Sindh Police on Monday killed one and arrested five suspected militants in an intelligence-based operation in Karachi and foiled a potential terror plot, according to officials.

A shootout took place between the suspects and law enforcement agencies at Shah Latif Town, said CTD Deputy Inspector General Omar Shahid Hamid, adding that a stun grenade was used in the operation as well.

The National Counter Terrorism Authority had previously issued an alert expressing fears of a major terrorist attack in the city, Hamid said.

DIG Hamid said foreigners were present among the arrested suspects and a rickshaw fitted with explosives — for purported use in a suicide attack — was found at their hideout which was defused by members of the bomb disposal squad.

Weapons, explosives and suicide jackets were recovered in the operation as well, he said.

A press conference on the events will be held at 3pm today at the CTD DIG office, police said. Sindh Information Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and Sindh Inspector General of Police Mushtaq Mahar will also attend the press talk.

Last month, the CTD had arrested a student of Karachi's NED University of Engineering and Technology over charges of "international terror financing".

“He was involved in sending money to families of militants linked with the global [militant] Islamic State group in Syria,” said DIG Hamid. According to the CTD, Khalid used to provide cash to an associate, named Zia, in Hyderabad, who converted it into dollars before sending it to Syria.

Speaking about the investigation, Hamid had said the CTD had received information that some people collected funds from Pakistan, which were sent to IS militants in Syria through various means. Acting on a tip-off, police detained the said suspect and seized two mobile phones from his possession on December 17, 2020.

The foreigner would probably be an iranian otherwise the officials would've named the person if he was from afghanistan.

. .
They were Wahabis inside preparing for a suicide attack.
1. The reason why i suspect that they are iranian is because we recently have seen some operations in karachi against the Zainabiyoun brigade and also the reports suggesting that iran wants pak to take back those terrorists.
2. We shouldn't care if they are wahabis or shia or anyone, they should be encountered at the spot. The only thing we should care is which country is sponsoring them, providing them safe passage, finance, training.
