suppose if we agree to the LOC being turned into an IB, then would you at least give concession on the siachen issue as a goodwill gesture considering your size & that this is a dispute & siachen being a much smaller place ,it wouldn't be much for you to leave it, considering your size but would definitely be a'lot for us to be happy with , frankly speaking I was all for the LOC to be turned into an IB till you occupied siachen in 1984 , @Contrarian mate its an honest question

You should know that the only reason Siachen was not converted into a demilitarized zone - as asked by Pakistan - a year back in negotiations was because Indian Army fought tooth and nail against it and impressed upon the GoI that the last time they vacated land upon an understanding with Pakistan, Pakistan took over Kargil.

The entire point is that none in India trust Pakistan to honour any agreement. Pakistan can occupy a space and simply claim that 'non state actors' are occupying it and Pakistan just gives 'moral support'.

That is the bone of contention.

I hope it gives you a sense as to what is achievable and what is not.

So if LC were to be converted to an IB, then Siachen would definitely be accepted by GoI to be converted to a completely demilitarized glacier with only civilian expeditions allowed. This because it then becomes part of a wider deal with Pakistan.

Lastly you do know that the average person in Pakistan is still not ready to let the idea of taking Kashmir go. Only the Pakistani elites and military has started accepting this and that too very recently.

Kashmir maybe but war with Pakistan would be a different story. That being said Pakistan does not have to worry about war especially coming from India you guys just bark but don't bite.

The problem is we have strong inertia to start the war. Also we do not believe in going to war just to prove something. It cannot be a petty thing, we have to have a strong reason to go to war. On the other hand, If you just extend what you said, it proves that Pakistan started all wars. Since as your own statement we cannot start the war, I happily take the blame of peace loving and war avoiding country.
