What you say are all with respect to organized religion, which is another of man's creation in the first place. But again, a Higgs Boson particle can add to the knowledge of how this universe works, but not why and to which end. Our inventions and discoveries, for all their glory, are still such an insignificant development for this universe. We haven't even understood the nature of life yet. We only know the ingredients needed, but why does life occur, why does it evolve etc are still unknown, and will remain so, for science does not know the 'why' in most cases.

Go through previous posts, and relive the torture I've been through for being a skeptic.

When it comes to metaphors, there is no 'winning' against religionists, not that one's intent should be to win in the first place. Rather, it should be to expose their intellectual inconsistency. For them, their religious texts are vague enough to withstand the assaults of science and rational thinking. As science make new discoveries, the religionists will ALWAYS find new interpretations for their religious metaphors and the rational thinkers will be dismissed as being too 'left brained' and is incapable of being 'nuanced'. This gives them the facade of being 'scientific' and 'sophisticated' when the reality is that they are buffoons.

Not a single religious text can and have been used in science. Not one. But they continue to insist they are sufficiently 'scientific'.

Actually, I'm a big believer in Science and it's role in explaining the way of the world. But I do not deny that some of the most fundamental questions that Man has asked, the reason which spurred the need for religion, have still haven't been answered and may never be answered by science.

Therefore, my fellow mates, I implore you to turn Agnostics! A Hindu Agnostic has a nice ring to it.

The main purpose of science is to examine 'how', then postulate on 'why'. Life is not rare as we perceive, traces of amino acids has been found on asteroids too. But for cells to reach multi cellular stage, one needs a stable environment conducive for it.

Do you even know, if there is any advanced species looking out for alien life, our signature won't be visible after 90-100 light years. And our universe stretches for 93 billion light years.

There is no point of 'believing' in science. We do not go to the lab having full confidence of finding a solution, but we hope we'd make considerable progress by the end of the day. We live by 'hope', not 'faith' or 'belief'.

Believing is science and logic is 'oxy-moronic', only to be subdued by ever better logic.

Science, IMO, has greatly increased our survivability and materialistic wealth(if one discounts nukes). But has little else to show. And yes, since science too will only make guesses on why events and processes happen the way they do, they too are just as inadequate in answering questions like 'What's our purpose here' and 'Do we have a soul' etc etc...

Why shouldn't I believe in Science? If there is a cure for AIDS or Cancer to be found, I 'believe' Science will come out with a solution/cure eventually, not religion. I 'believe' Science is the way forward if we're to mine other other planets.

In any case, this is word play. I choose to believe in science to uplift our life/lifestyle further. Now please don't call me a scientologist for it.

Nope. My memories from this lifetime are scary enough. Besides, as I said before, I'm agnostic. I believe the universe is too large, beautiful and complex a place to warrant no creator, and any proof in this regard may never be found. But I reject Organized religions and their message/method to seek God.

Basically, their methods don't work for me. But there may be those who're truly at peace by following the concepts laid out in Religion. As you very well know, the placebo effect is for real. It's not like anyone's any closer to understand the what/how/why about God.What matters at the end of the day is positivity and harmony in the society you reside in. So, whatever rocks their boats, science or religion or witchcraft.

But culturally, I'm Hindu, in the sense that those around me are happy observing and celebrating Hinduism, and I gain my strength from those close to me.
